Used to be a regular here for years, even before they closed down the first three times. I'd order $30-40 worth of rice, griot, and stewed chicken for both me and my woman on almost a weekly basis. Before this "new change of management" that seems to occur so seasonally, their food was ON POINT. Rice was fresh and HOT, not hard and cold; Griot and meats melted in your mouth because it was so well done and curated.
Things now have unfortunately changed for the worse. When my woman was eating her side-order of rice and beans, she had a hard piece of what we thought was uncooked rice in her teeth and gums. I had to help her get it out because it was so wedged in there. I talked to the lady at the register about it the day after (today), when I decided to give them another shot, thinking it might have been an innocent accident.
But when I got my order today after waiting 20 minutes (usually takes 5-10, and I was the only one there so it wasn't busy), the same issue was there, except worse. I spent more time digging through my rice to pick out the hard pieces, then actually eating it. So much so, that I ended up throwing it out. It didn't help that the Griot I ordered was roughly 75% bone and 25% meat. I called to ask what was going on with their service lately; that they were about to lose a customer, and that I needed my money back since half my food was off to the side after me digging through the pieces of rice that were ACTUALLY edible. They apparently had NO way of doing refunds over the phone, even though I was their only customer within the last twenty minutes I called, and they wanted me to go back to the store to get my money back, instead of voiding out the order over the phone.
All in all, it once was a great restaurant with almost-OK customer service. Now it's just downright awful, and I personally would recommend anyone that sees this place to...
Read moreMy experience was horrible! I bought food from Alez restaurant on December 26, 2017 and that will be the last time I ever step a foot in that establishment. I ordered two meals, one was white rice/beans/fried turkey, the meat was not tasty at all, it needed wayyyy more seasoning and lime. The white rice was regular but had too much salt. The beans were ok but smelled old. The second plate was HORRIBLE.... this meal consisted of a fried red snapper with rice and beans. The fish was TASTELESS!!!! No seasoning what so ever!! The rice and beans were nasty as hell, I'm down for the whole eating healthy movement but this was meal was something else!! They served us basmati rice with beans and it was a disester, Alez cmon if you're going to sell AUTHENIC HAITIAN FOOD leave the basmati rice for your home kitchen. And I think it would be nice if you informed the customer that you guys do in fact use this type of rice in some of your meals. The pikliz was extremely COLD, THICK, and DRY! And for some reason they added that Goya brand dry seasoning that gives food red coloring. I was already too far to come back and demand that I get my money back. Now I know why stayed away from this restaurant for so long... I only came here cause another Haitian Resturant (Bon Zanmi) was closed that day. The service was good, the wait time for my food was expected since I was ordering fried fish and I was expecting it fresh. I threw away both meals and wasted my money. Being born and raised in Miami, I know what good AUTHENIC HAITIAN FOOD is supposed to taste like and Alez you guys don't. You may want to consider getting some older Haitian women to cook for you guys, cause this...
Read moreSave your money and go to Kreyol Delight OR Bon Zanmi instead BETTER FOOD, FASTER SERVICE, CLEANER ENVIRONMENT! TRUST ME! I have given ALEZ so many chances because I am Haitian and I love to support my culture & I love the Haitian food. However this resturant lacks in all departments. Very slow service, extremely bad customer services, very disrespectful staff, and the food is not good enough to ever make me tolerate all the above especially because it doesn’t come close to Miami Haitian food. These people had me wait over TWO hours for a small order of food more than once (everyone in tampa can tell you they are SLOW SLOW SLOW). But each time I let it slide, finally today I come in to pick up a new order for myself and my entire family who are visiting from out of town. I wanted to give this place another shot and put some money back into a Haitian business. But I was so disappointed to drive 50 minutes out my way to this resturant ONLY for them to inform me they “ sold my orders (all 7 orders) and I would have to wait another 1-2 hours for them to make me new food”. This is not only distasteful because they could have called me to alert me but it’s extremely poor customer service and I will NEVER ever recommend this place and i will NEVER go here again. Everyone in the line agreed with me when I politely educated their entire staff on customer service. Do not put money into this company, they are embarrassing to the...
