Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza & Wings — Restaurant in Florida

I'm usually not a pizza chain guy but this one was supposed to be really good so we drove 30 miles to try. my first observation was the smell of the restaurant, upon entering, and what's suppose to smell like the food, smelled a little musty, like a wet mop smell or similar. we ordered the traditional plain pizza, garlic knots, chopped salad, and pasta e fagioli soup. first came the knots and although they were pretty good, they were barely warm, so we asked if they could re heat and they took the knots and never returned them , so they totally forgot. my wife said the soup was good, but again just barely warm, but she did finish it. next was the pizza and it was just ok tbh. it was cooked good but again not very hot which seemed strange because it should have come straight from the oven. the tomatoes were good and cheese decent but overall kind of a let down and if i knew this we would of never driven so far. i guess if you kind of like chain pizza, then your going to love this and probably think its the best you ever had, but if you like authentic NY or Naples style pizza, you will be disappointed. the salad was ok, nothing special too, so overall we were pretty disappointed . service was also disappointing, no personality whatsoever , you could feel the employees were just biding their time to finish and go home, like no one really enjoyed working or talking to customers.....i do believe i had eaten at another location many years ago and as i remember it was much better, but this brandon location was not very good imo. i would definitely...

I ordered 2 special pizza for the group and sangria drinks alongside 2 chicken Caesar salads and one salad with veggies cooked on top and a large order of wings . The chicken was spoiled on the salad , so we also returned the wings . Then I got no croutons bc they ran out and they had to make more the next day..so I had lettuce and cheese in my Cesar salad.. the pizzas were burnt bc they were closing in 30.mins I was out of luck. This wasn't a good first time experience. I brought my clients here for a business meeting. They were not happy either.. thanks for letting us down.

UPDATED REVIEW 4/26/2023: AFTER THE OWNER REACHED OUT ON GOOGLE REVIEW RESPONSE, I WENT BACK INTO THE RESTURANT AND HE CORRECTED ALL ISSUES AND THEN SOME!!! I WAS SO HAPPY ABOUT THE EXPERIENCE, I WENT BACK A FEW DAYS LATER FOR MY BIRTHDAY!! I HAD VEGGIES ON PIZZA, SALADS THAT WERE FRESH AND NAKED WINGS WITH ONIONS ON TOPPED THAT WERE GRILLED....IT WAS SO AMAZING! THEY WON ME OVER! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK ALREADY!! I've been here quite a few times over the years, and to be honest I feel the last couple times it's been on a decline. The wings used to be great, the last time we got the original wings they tasted like they were completely unseasoned but had the perfect amount of crispiness to the skin. Last week we figured we'd try the buffalo wings and while the sauce was good, the skin was rubbery like they had been just sitting in the sauce for 10 minutes. I can understand the crispiness going away if they were takeout and steaming hot in a styrofoam container but we were 15 feet away from the oven.

The pizza is good. It's certainly a step up from all the fast food/quick carry out pizza around, but a step down from something like a Neapolitan pizza. The sauce is slightly under-seasoned, and they don't give nearly enough of it. The best pie was the broccoli rabe and sausage, but that's no longer on the menu. The next best was the cheesesteak, also no longer on the menu. I've also had the eggplant marino which is good, but with the eggplant sliced so thin, most of whatever browning they got on it is soggy when it's brought to the table. It sounds like I don't like the place, but it's always something simple that throws off what would otherwise be great food. Fortunately the service is always...
