I stumbled across this place after my cousin purchased a home in the area and was relieved to know there was an arepa spot so close-by seeing as how we are Extreme foodies 😂 .
I’d eaten arepas plenty of times before, but could only seem to find them in Orlando, so I was looking forward to my first time at this location. Ordering my food was a bit of a challenge, due to the language barrier I’m guessing, but the kitchen cooks were more than helpful in assisting and getting my order in. The size could be bigger but the taste is good and it can still be a filling lunch item. Also they started charging .50c on to-go orders, what is that about???
Unfortunately the elder woman at the counter, who’s there most days in the front, was not as helpful nor did her attitude/demeanor reflect the “I’m happy to help you” spirit her coworkers had. I don’t like to judge people who serve in any way because I understand what it’s like and some days just aren’t easy in the service industry. I really wanted to believe that I was just misjudging the situation but once I went back MULTIPLE times and felt that same energy from her, I knew it wasn’t just me. Not only have I received poor service from her on numerous occasions, but so has my cousin that lives in the area and was trying to support a local business.
(Also they started charging .50c on to-go orders, what is that about???)
It just occurred about an hour ago, again and for the last time. Not sure if it was a racial thing, seeing as how I’ve had to wait my turn for service and never saw and Latinx/Hispanic person receive bad treatment or service. Either way I won’t patronize...
Read moreI was recommended this place almost a year ago and I definitely regret not coming here for so long.
Especially because it's like 12 minutes away.
I got the Carne Asada Arepa, a chicken empanada, a mango smoothie, and a dessert dish that I can't recall exactly.
The Arepa corn bread pita thing is honestly amazing. It's fluffy. It's dense. It's delicious.
Give me a stack of those. I actually just want to buy the bread in bulk.
The steak was mildly seasoned. It definitely needs the sauce they bring out to the tables. Which were delicious. At least the green one was. I believe the white one was just ranch.
The breading for the empanada was also absolutely fantastic. I think it's also corn flour based.
Unfortunately, the filling was relatively bland. While having the perfect texture and actually being completely filled, the taste could've been better. Once again, the green sauce made it much more edible.
The mango milk smoothie was delicious.
The dessert item was alright. I didn't like it as much as the savory dishes. It had the perfect texture, but the corn pancake like part was the only sweet part. It was actually more salty than sweet. When I paired it with maple syrup at home, it ended up pretty good.
I think some more excitement could be brought to the Carne Asada and Chicken filling. I felt over reliant on the sauce.
It's a very small location. Seats aren't very comfortable, but that's okay.
Give this place a try. I'm sure I will find items on the menu I will...
Read moreRead this. My family and I were hungry driving around and decided to stop add get carryout. The service is good, but unfortunately if you aren't there only for the arepas, you will be disappointed. Truthfully speaking, and you can verify this if you want, you can get better tasting rice, chicken, and beans at Pollo tropical right up the street for a better price. And... to add more insult to the experience, the proportions are very tiny, even the amount of lettuce and rice is smaller than what you'd get anywhere else. If you are hungry for some Spanish(adequately seasoned) food and eat more than than a child's proportion, skip this place. They do not have it right yet. Rice, lettuce and seasoning is super cheap, why skimp on that? The food tasted fresh out a can and microwaved and there was more chips than meat in a sandwich, what is that? As I mentioned earlier, the service was good, as in they were nice and got the order correct. I heard the arepas(Venezuelan type) were good..but .I wont be...
