We've been going to Ootoya Sushi for years now. In the past it has been "hit or miss". Occasionally the service was very off, either moody servers, inattentive, or our meals were served by someone who had a runny nose, wiping on his Sleeves! OMG! Yuck! 🤢 And food quality was a bit shy of being top notch, which is very important, especially with raw food/fish! You Really want Fresh Fish for sushi... But sadly, even more inconsistent was their Sushi Rice. Sushi rice it's very important. And very evident when you're just having a piece of fish on sushi rice. It needs to be top quality rice, ideally imported from Japan, whenever possible. Cooking rice is an Art, ensuring the correct doneness, moisture, texture and stickiness of each of the rice grains, and Then of course, The Seasoning of the rice is of the Utmost importance. If the balance is off, it will affect the taste of the fish and your entire meal, immensely. Recently, Things Have Changed... Since the COVID-19 precautions started, Ootoya Sushi closed the dinning room, and has been Consistently providing contact-less take-out, and now has added delivery as well. When you pick up your order they have a table set up in their entryway, and you will see, they are wearing masks and gloves inside the restaurant. They provide a Super Easy to use app, and the food is ready to go, very quickly! In these crazy times, they have continued to Shine! By Improving the Quality of their food, across the board. And especially the sushi rice! What a Wonderful Difference! Now the food seems to Get Better Every Time we get our take-out! Thank You Ootoya! ❣️🥡 The Sushi Rice is So good! Wonderful texture and flavor, that compliments the other food Beautifully! Bravo Ootoya! Thank you for stepping up and for caring enough to improve yourselves in serving, preparing and providing Excellent meals to your community! We will be back, even More...
Read moreFood is excellent, service is hit or miss. I waited a few days to think about what to say because I detest writing bad reviews. But this recent visit was just terrible, service wise. The food is always fresh, flavorful and pristinely presented. But it seems as if the nights we go there dressed up we get great service and a good table. We recently went for the second time in just our running around town clothes because we didn't feel like getting dressed up, but we wanted a good meal. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant and then had to wait over 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by wait staff. After we ordered, they didn't bring us hot towels. I thought it was something they no longer did, until I realized every table but ours got them. After our meal, our server brought out the check and told us we could pay on our way out. Too bad for him because we had been discussing dessert. I was so upset by that point, I just wanted to leave. We got up to pay on our way out (like the server told us to) and the lady at the front said, "Have a good night!" We could have really walked out without paying because our server was too lazy (or whatever) to collect the money from us as the rest of the servers do. Then when our server came back out, I asked him if he was new, hoping he would get the hint, but he was clueless, so I walked out while my companion paid the bill. It isn't that hard to be a good server when the food is so good, but people like us would like to see a server try. Very...
Read moreI have been here several times now. This has to be the worst sushi ive had in all of greater Orlando. Publix sushi is significantly better. The sushi rolls barely have any rice whatsoever. The salad is a joke. Ive had delivery from this place 3 times and dined in twice throughout the last several years. Ive ordered several different rolls each time but always a California roll to go along with whatever i had. The cali roll each time was the worst ive had. Every single time. It’s consistently bad. All 5 times were a complete disappointment regardless of what i ordered. I remember I also had the fried rice years ago and it was disgusting. The more sophisticated rolls are also mediocre. Not bad but not worth it either especially for the price. The inside is very nice though. I think the interior of the restaurant is extremely well done. Love the vibes, too bad the food is horrendous. ANY OTHER SUSHI PLACE IS BETTER. orlando fuji sushi in waterford lakes is probably my favorite in terms of how good the food tastes. Ive probably been to 30 sushi places all around orlando. I never really have a problem except for this place. I give up on this place. Avoid it at all costs.
I absolutely promise you that anything served here is better somewhere else...
