Before the pandemic, Jai Ho was located in a strip mall plaza opposite the University Mall. They closed, we were sad, but were thrilled when they reopened in the mall food court!
Located on the second floor, it’s easy to follow the Look Cinema signs up into the parking garage, then Jai Ho is located about a 1 minute walk to the right. Their combo meals are delicious and we’ve gotten them several times for lunch or dinner. The 2-Item Combo is $9.99 I think, then you add $1-2 to upgrade to 3-items or 4-items.
The real star here is the lunch buffet! They offer it for $12.99 on most weekdays, then I think it’s $16.99 for a bigger weekend buffet. Spice levels are nice…won’t blow you away, but definitely spicy. Food is fresh, flavorful, and delicious. There are usually about 10 items on the buffet, plus they’ll bring out fresh dosa and puffy poori bread (instead of naan). This past Friday (Jan. 2024) there was spinach with lentils (dal), chickpeas (Chana masala), chicken tikka masala (boneless), chicken curry (with bones), goat curry (bones), chicken biryani, basmati rice, chicken 65 (think spicy nuggies), an eggplant and potato sautee, veggie korma, and paneer shahi korma (saucy cheese cubes)…plus pakora (veg fritters) app and bread pudding dessert (sweet cream, cashews, raisins).
The owners are really nice and give great service. They are friendly and take pride in their business. Check out Jai Ho…truly one of Tampa’s hidden gems and “best kept secrets”…but get the word out so they...
Read moreOMG! I was so sad to find this restaurant had closed but, I was elated when I saw it in university mall. I love everything about Jaiho. The owner is amazing. She truly has the heart of God. The staff all had smiling faces and treated me very well. I always order the Butter chicken when I go. However, today the owner was like no you have to try everything. She begin to fix me a plate with everything on it. Then she says, "It's my treat". Tears began to fill my eyes I was so touch by her gesture. Now let's talk about the food. Everything was delicious not to spicy just right. The mix of herbs and spices is so flavorful. From the Chicken Tandoori to the naan was immaculate. I pray that God bless this Rupa with many blessings. She is a true earth angel. Thank you to the whole crew. I wish I could give 10 stars. Read moreOn Saturday afternoon, I was glad to meet and speak with Ruby. It was my first time trying Indian food, but she was so kind and willing to help me. I really appreciate her amazing customer service and how she answered all my questions. The menu was easy to understand, which I found helpful. I ordered a two-combo Biryani rice with Butter Chicken and Korma Chicken, along with yellow lentil soup. I also got Wada doughnuts that came with a tomato soup and two extra dipping sauces. I'm from Miami, I've tasted rice from other Latin countries, which I always found great with different flavors, but the Biryani rice in Jaiho's was beyond what I expected. It was the most delicious rice I've ever had, especially with the cashews mixed in. The chicken was so tender and flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I really loved the tasty and earthy lentil soup. The Wada doughnuts were soft and went well with the tomato soup, which had a mild spice but was very good. I also received two more dips with the doughnuts, and my favorite was the peanut-flavored dip. If you're looking for great service, reasonable prices and the best Indian food in town, go check out...
