Christmas at Tampa's Busch Gardens: What to Watch Out For!

I highly recommend the Safari if you want to get a closer look at the animals on the Serengeti! I wouldn't recommend it for kids under the age of 7/8, because they won't be able to see over the railing of the truck, and because the experience requires a high level of maturity to properly feed the giraffes. I also wouldn't recommend it for people who can't stand up for a 30-minute bumpy ride. We saw every type of animal that is part of Busch Gardens' Serengeti Plains, and many of them were brave enough to come right next to the vehicle. Our guide, Sarah, was fantastic and knew the answers to all of the questions from our group. A PhotoKey photographer joins you on the experience to get photos of everyone. Our photographer got some great shots. To purchase these, it's $25/photo or they have a $60 package deal. We were sad to find out that we couldn't get any pictures (not even just one) loaded onto our pre-existing PhotoKey. I feel that if you already paid for a PhotoKey, they should at least let you choose 1-3 photos from your experience.

I absolutely love animals, especially the big cats! The cheetahs were out to see, but the lion was hiding behind bushes, and the tiger was sleeping in his cave, keeping cool. I was kinda disappointed I didn't get to see Tiger and Lion, but I understand cats. All they do is sleep all day, mainly and up at night. Take me anywhere to see animals, and I'm there other than snakes and spiders, not in love with them, but I will respect distancing myself from them just don't come in my house! 😊 As you can see, I have cousins of the big cats, much smaller as well. The ginger color is Ozzy, and the grey color is Jagger. I had to throw in my domesticated cats just for some humor as too much seriousness in this world as well as negativity 😄 I hope you all enjoy the photos, and if you visit Busch Gardens, enjoy your day as much as I did.

Naturally the animal experience is a hefty price but it is very worth every penny for the lovely experience! Simply BEAUTIFUL feeding these creatures up close! So when a family of four is purchasing 4 SEPARATE Giraffe Feedings it is discouraging that the tour guide gave half the lettuce available for feeding for a separate party of just one adult and one child. Multiple times throughout the feeding from the start to the end the tour guide had preference for the other party of one parent and one child. Openly voiced “no wait” to my children when they extended their hands to receive a lettuce and openly turned around and gave the other party’s child the lettuce and said “you go first!” This was repeated when taking photos as well. Not to mention the tour guide spend most of the time speaking to the other party. Seemed like the tour guide was flirting and attracted to the other party’s adult which resulted in unfairness. Perhaps even family or friend. Perhaps two things could help this situation to ensure everyone is getting a fair amount worth their money. Putting in the cooler separate bins with the appropriate amount of lettuce inside for each person paying for the experience or If there is already a full family or four+ paying for the experience they should get the tour privately as it is a private tour to ensure there isn’t unfairness.

I'm a theme park junkie and love zoo's do I thought this would be an amazing marriage of the two like animal kingdom is. I have top be honest I was disappointed. I do want to give it another shot in the future but only when the weather is cooler and not during storm season. Everything was shutdown for over 3 hours because if nearby lightning. I get that. The problem is there I'd nothing to do then... no shows, no indoor exhibits that were open, nothing but eat and shop. With that said we loved the giraffe safari definitely worth the extra $. We loved the exhibits we were able to see. They do a very nice job of navigating the balance between good healthy enclosure for the animals and great viewing for guests. My only other complaint as a person with disabilities is that it is not scooter friendly. Lots of switchbacks with tight blind corners made for some nerve racking near misses.
