Oh my, where do I start. I booked this room online mainly because of the location to the park. It is very close but I wish I would have read more reviews. I travel often and have had some poor experiences but this one takes the cake. When I arrived, my first reaction was poor location. I should have went with my gut! It’s tucked away behind a sports bar and if you don’t see the sign, you’ll pass it. There is a ton of traffic and getting across the street into the hotel was difficult. When we checked in, we were told they charge $7.00 a night for parking however this was not disclosed prior to booking. Ok fine, no biggie ... I wish that was the only problem. They had one luggage rack which was taken 15 seconds before we could grab it, the elevators are ridiculously slow, the room smelled funny, the design of the bathroom it utterly useless, the tv channels offer zero children programs, the AC is really loud ... oh and remember the sports bar, they offer live music that you can hear music pumped into the vent of your room as if you were there with them. One of the membes in my party wanted to get some fresh air however was greeted by three individuals smoking an illegal substances right outside of the hotel. The keypad entry locks are broken which is a safety hazard, so anyone can enter the hotel. The breakfast was frozen pancakes and just add water eggs. The fruit was good! ... After pushing through breakfast, we left the room to go to the park and returned around 10:30pm. While pulling into the parking lot, we noticed certain individuals offering “services.” Remember location... not so good. And there were two police offices parked in front of the lobby. We called the front desk asking why there were police on site and we were told, they take their breaks there ... yeah ok!!! When we arrived back into our room, we noticed room service had been there. Unfortunately this is where it gets really bad. The housekeeper tossed all of our shoes (dirty shoes) inside of our suitcases on top of our clean cloths ... interesting - why would you open our bags ... well we noticed a few random items missing. I first figured, maybe we misplaced them. After searching everything, including the car, we were unable to find them. Now the items were not super important and I didn’t give it much mind until the next morning when my daughter told me her gold earrings were missing. I called the front desk and to make a post a bit shorter, I was called a liar and their staff doesn’t steal. She had the nerve to tell me, she would send the maintenance manager and the individual that cleaned our room, up to the room to help us go through our things to locate our items. I demanded to speak with the manager, after some further hesitation from her, she advised me that someone would be coming to my room. 25 minutes later, the assistant manager arrived. Again to make this shorter, she did the best she could and I RAN out of this hotel. I will be reaching out to the Hyatt Corporate Team to share this horrendous experience. If you choose this hotel, please stay...
Read moreDo not stay here!! I booked this trip for my family as a Christmas gift and the hotel / area made it terrible!! I was stuck between a few hotels and picked this specific hotel based on the free breakfast and free shuttle to Busch Gardens.
The “free shuttle” to Busch Gardens only has 7 seats and only runs once an hour so it was booked until 12, ended up having to take an Uber. The breakfast was gross, everything had a weird taste, the attendant was so rude and instead of offering to help or refill things would say “I’m working alone it’ll be a while” but never refilled the eggs or hashbrowns at 8:45am when breakfast ends at 10:00.
The few employees we ran into were very rude, I witnessed one completely ignore my question because she was listening to her phone then when I asked again she said she didn’t know where to stairs were and that I couldn’t have more washcloths because they were all out. We were a family of 4 and given three towels and three washcloths for our 3 night stay. I asked for more each day and was never given any. On our last night I walked down to the front desk and asked for a washcloth and the manger on duty told me they hadn’t been washed that day so there weren’t any. Also, I saw and heard them cleaning several rooms without replacing bedding. I also never heard a vacuum the entire stay and had hair all over my floor and bathroom.
Also found a random pill on the floor that thankfully I spotted before my kids did. Just shows how lightly they do the cleaning as it was right under the desk area.
The area is very ran down and heavy worth a homeless presence, did not feel safe going anywhere at all. Overall terrible experience and would highly recommend you stay somewhere else! Also, charging $12 for parking is just another way to gouge people for money, I thought it was added to your stay and ended up having a $18 ticket because I didn’t prepay for my first night….okay sure let me fork over $12 a night for parking but you can’t give me any clean washcloths….what a joke. Y’all...
Read moreIf you’re going to Busch Gardens, this is a good choice. The hotel does need a renovation, it’s just kind of tired out. I travel a lot (180 days a year at least)and stay in all manners of Hyatts as well as other chains. This one is well-kept but just tired out, which is not unusual for a tourist area . A sign in the lobby says renovation is coming and none too soon.
We had a king bed that had pillows meant for a queen. The bathroom is tiny but at least the sink is outside the shower/toilet area. Someone broke the glass shower door at some point, so a curtain was rigged up in place of the door. It worked, the water stayed in the shower (shower only, no tub) but not an elegant solution.
Breakfast is free and seemed to vary in quality the 2 times we ate it in 3 days. It’s far from the worst free breakfast I’ve had, but it’s far from the best. It’s an option, especially if you have kids, there’s something for everyone to get something to eat before you head to the park. Seating is very limited and not conducive to families or even groups of 4. Odd for a hotel close to a theme park. There’s plenty of restaurants in a 5-10 min drive with all kinds of food if the breakfast doesn’t suit you.
The free shuttle was nice enough. $12/ day parking at the hotel was easier to deal with than $30/day at the park, though the shuttle schedule can vary. It officially leave the hotel the top of the hour but they will run more if they have to. The hotel has a decent lot,
This hotel can be loud, there’s a fair amount of street noise, but the loud air conditioner will drown it out (which I personally like, but some of you won’t)
For the price, it’s a bit disappointing but post COVID, hotels that should be $150/night max are $200 and so on. I read other reviews before booking and this hotel had some of the better reviews. I’d stay here again, the staff were all very nice, helpful and importantly, the hotel was clean. But it definitely...
