Bonjour French Bakery & Cafe - Kendall — Restaurant in Kendall

I have never written a negative review before, however I just needed to get this off my chest because my experience today left me upset. I had ordered something for pickup for the first time, not to avoid the wait time, but to make sure they didn’t sell out of the pastries I wanted (earlier this week I came and they sold out of some things). I get there and there’s no one at the register by the door where I assume (there’s no sign) you pick up the to go orders. I only see two cashiers on the other side helping people in the line and an additional worker coming in and out of the kitchen but no one by the front register. I just got in line, because I didn’t see anyone helping in the front and I did not want to cut/interrupt anyone in line that waited their turn because the line was to the door. After 10 minutes, I greet the cashier and tell her I have an order for pickup. She points to the front of the store and says I need to wait there. It was my mistake here for not telling her if she could just hand me my order, but I just went back and waited at the register by the door like she said. Again, there is no one there, just the two cashiers taking and bagging orders. The third worker eventually came out to where I was and before I could ask about my order, she called out someone else’s order and helped another customer. When she finished I went to open the door for the customer because she had a lot of bags to carry and her hands were full, and when I came back the worker was gone. I wait a couple more minutes when the initial cashier comes by the front to grab a box, I make eye contact with her and she asks if I have been helped. I said no and she got my order (that was literally behind the counter in front of me) and I signed the receipt and left. At this point it’s almost 20 minutes that I have been waiting by the front, so almost half an hour that I had to wait because standing in the line for 10 minutes when I first got there wasn’t enough. I understand that I should have gone to the front of the line at some point and asked to be helped instead of waiting all that time like an idiot. I honestly didn’t want anyone to think I was trying to cut them in line or anything, but at the end of the day I shouldn’t have to do all that. I could have just gotten my order after I waited in line the first time because it took all of 20 seconds to verify my name and sign a receipt, it literally takes longer to make an order in the store and pay at the register so I don’t understand the point of sending me to the front of the store. Only for the same cashier to help me in the end, and not even say “sorry for the wait” or whatever. I work in customer service and I understand when work gets hectic, being understaffed, etc. However, that didn’t seem to be the issue today. I rated it one star solely because of what happened today, not because of the quality of the food. The pastries are amazing but I’m afraid the service isn’t up to the same caliber. However, it’s nice to have a place like this nearby because it is different from what you typically see in Kendall. I will come back just for that sometime in the future, not anytime soon. We came on a busy Sunday and fully expected to wait a minimum of 30 minutes to get a table. We received our seats outside and became instantly unprioritized. After being sat, we waited 20 minutes and were then told after asking when a server would come to greet our table: “our seats outside do not have a server. Only inside service has a server come to your table. You need to place an order inside and we bring it out to you if you are on the outside tables.” This was our first visit here at this location and was not told this at all, as the hostess prioritized the group of 10+ instead for the inside which has servers. There comes to a point where that should be mentioned before willingly seating us outside and expecting servers to come around as this is a full restaurant with a full staff and a hostess. I could have easily gone inside for carry out if that was what I was expecting. No point in outside tables without servers. Super unwelcoming and lack of attention to my party and I to the point where we got up and left after 50 minutes of waiting around for nothing but a poor excuse from the hostess. We would have had to wait another 20 plus minutes to receive food after literally no service to begin with. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, it’s a shame to see a well reviewed restaurant with terrible service from both hostess and staff who could have easily told us basic instructions on what to do instead of leaving us frustrated and unwilling to give this place a second chance. Not a single “hey, we’ll be right with you, or have you ever dined with us before.” to acknowledge your customers and patrons who have no clue what is going on unless you ask yourselves after pure...

Unfortunately for my experience and of my children could not have been at its worst!! How disappointed after traveling to visit. We arrived placed the order for 3 about more than $100 later, which I truly don’t mind if it’s Amazing or great at least. Egg omelettes for all was runny and the omelette it self had a dirty rag stench that I couldn’t no more. Even my daughter said “mom there’s something wrong with the eggs” so by that time a Nat kept hovering non stop over the food. I finally found the horrendous Odor was the utensils, smelled like dirty old water/ wet rag just yuk!!!! I told the gentleman in charge to check what was smelly if it was the veggies/ham and or utensils. My daughter ended up leaving almost everything even her orange juice. My son and I made the best by leaving most. Mind you I had told the ladies that we didn’t care for runny uncooked eggs. The house potatoes were hard and horrible, the bacon was cold! The only things that were ok was my can coke soda, the croissant, fries and my cappuccino. That’s it literally!!!!!! Would not ever go back!!! Horrible and for the monies wasted total failure. How dissatisfied all of us left. We left with that disgusting stench/odor in our mouth. Thank goodness we stopped at Knaus Berry Farms and had shakes and forgot that experience 😬.
