Moon Thai & Japanese — Restaurant in Kendall

By far the worst restaurant that I've ever worked for, management is a joke, it's blindly run by David Nova (manager), he lies, he has no clue on how to run a restaurant and his employees don't respect him. David Nova told me that 3 months ago when I first started, that I would be evaluated on my performance to see if I remain with the company. He mentioned that after reviewing the evaluation that the 3 months have gone by and that I am terminated, even though he told me what a great job I did everyday I worked for him. allow me to explain to you some of the difficult things that I have had to have deal with within those 3 months of work at Moon Thai Kendall. when I first started working there I tried my best not to make any mistakes, I rushed to tables to make sure that all of them were ok, satisfied. out of all the people in that restaurant, David Nova in 4 occasions at least joked around with other servers and coworkers saying things like "hey guys look at George, when he works it looks like he can't handle it, looks like we'll need another server, busser, hostess, cooks..." he flat out bullied me in front of others, I didn't say anything and kept it quiet. one time for lunch, I had finished all of my sidework and there was nobody sitting in my section and the dinner crew had come in, I was going to ask David Nova if I could leave 10 minutes earlier seeing that I was done with everything, he was playing around with other waiters grabbing each others genitals and grabbing their butts while calling each other derogatory names in the middle of the dinning room. I noticed that and ran my report 10 minutes before and left it under the computer by the front, the following day he makes me sign a write up sheet for leaving 10 minutes earlier. when that last incident occurred, I asked to meet with Fernando Vargas (regional manager) at Moon Cutler Bay so that I can report to him some of the things that David Nova was doing. I told Fernando Vargas everything, I received an apology from David Nova saying that he was deeply sorry for everything and that he would like to start all over again, he shook my hand. Few days later David Nova fires me I didn't pass the 3...

Absolutely fantastic! Don't understand the bad reviews or lack of stars. The food here is so delicious. Had the chicken fried rice, Tom kha kai soup with a sweet basil chili and coconut curry base, had the sweet dream protein sushi roll with salmon tuna yellow fish scallops and substituted the asparagus for cream cheese, the eel sushi roll with eel tempura shrimp cream cheese and with salmon or tuna...maybe both...and finally we had the pang don't hit its a curry coconut base with beef and lemon grass (yuuuuuuuum). Needless to say between my husband and I we couldn't finish it all but we happily took it home for a full meal tomorrow. And our waitress BRIANNE was so amazing super sweet and took her time to explain to us the dishes and gave us different options for a couple visiting for the first time. Seriously nothing we tried was bad, it was all delicious.

However a fair warning....they close at 11....that means light off at 11 you better be done and checked out with left overs packed and heading out the door...manager was giving stink eye to our super sweet waitress, and all the Asians (the cooks) were out. Lol they don't play.

But seriously highly highly highly recommend. If you don't like it you must be super stuck up or hate...

Good food and ambience. We were in the mood for Thai, particularly noodles. This place did not disappoint. Hubby ordered a shrimp pad Thai as an appetizer for both of us to share and it was delicious. I ordered a Tom Yum Goong shrimp soup and hubby got the Vietnamese Pho noodle soup, which were both nicely portioned and very good. Although I have to say my soup was the best out of the two with a nice mix of aromatic spices and a citrusy taste.

For main courses I ordered from the Japanese menu the Sushi regular combination of California roll and salmon/tuna sushi freshly made. Hubby ordered from the Thai menu of sauce dishes the beef in garlic sauce. His was so good I almost regretted ordering sushi, but my sushi was still great as nothing beats getting freshly made sushi.

The reason for the less than 5 stars had to do with our server being so busy that we felt abandoned a couple of times. He was nice when he showed up, but the food did not take awful long which is why I'm not deducting more points. Next time I'm going to ask to be seated in the main area where there is more waiter traffic.

Overall a great place for a night out with significant other, friends and family....
