Captain D's — Restaurant in Florida

We tried Captain D's for the first time today. I did not have too high of hopes for this place and I'm glad I didn't. It was an okay experience. Really nothing about the meal was a big deal.

We ordered the Seafood Feast and the Lobster Rolls. The Seafood Feast offers a great variety and enough food to easily feed 4-6 people. Plus the price is great!

Unfortunately there was a lot to be desired with all of it except the fish and hush puppies, which was the best of the meal. There is a lot of breading on the fish but the flavor was good. The shrimp was bland, crunchy breading but lacking seasoning. Fries were very soft so we put then into our air fryer to crisp up. I felt the stuffed crab was very odd. I honestly got a hint of cinnamon and clove that made it taste like a savory spiced donut. It was strange and not enjoyable. The macaroni and cheese was mushy, not very flavorful, my father actually spit his bite out. The lobster rolls are small however for less than $5 what do you expect? Most lobster rolls have large lump meat not a shredded lobster salad, but they also cost $16+. You get what you pay for. I didn't enjoy the flavor very much but I'm glad I tried it.

Overall it was okay. It was nice to try something different other than pizza or chinese. We enjoyed the fish and that's what this place is about so...

We love Captain D's so it was awful when we got our family platters & add on's. The fish tasted like a cross of chicken & pork. It was really bad & all 12 pieces + the 2 add on pieces tasted the same so it wasn'tjust a bad piece. I called in to see if something was wrong with the oil or the fish & the very nice man explained that they had changed fish for at least the next few weeks. He offered me a 2 piece dinner to make up for it but a 2 piece on a $53 order when we had to get pizza that same night because nobody would eat the fish? Come on! We alternate Captain D's into our weekend meals every other weekend but we can go to Long John's moving foward. Nobody in our house would eat it. Everything else from the butterfly shrimp to the stuffed crabs was good. Offering to replace all of the fish (considering he recalled our order) would have kept us...

First time at this location and NOT impressed! Drive up wait time was OK but did not get what I ordered and did not find out till I got home. Ordered 2 Big Fish sandwiches, 1 order of fries, 1 order of shrimp and 1 order of poppers. Everything came in Styrofoam takeout boxes. This fish was cold like room temp as well as the fries but the popper were hot and NO shrimp. I live about 3 miles down the road so the food should have all been hot. The shrimp was a special of $1.99 so with gas prices it was not worth the trip back.The lack of hot food in the Styrofoam boxes tells me it was either put in cold or sitting out in the boxes premade for a long time. I give 2 stars just because the big fish was a larger portion. Serving cold food it a health hazard and not getting what you paid...
