This place has an authentic atmosphere and staff. But the food, not so much. I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it's not authentic. I got fajitas, and wouldn't coin them as "good" either. Matter of fact, they are better at Chili's Bar and Grill. I ordered the food to-go, and was on hold for about 5 minutes. I thought they were busy. I get there and no one is there and 30 minutes after I ordered it, it's finally ready. When ordering, I asked if it came with chips and salsa. They said yes, but I got like 12 chips and some hot sauce (not salsa) that looks like it's a cousin of Chili's salsa. And again, Chili's has better salsa (and theirs isn't "good" either). I asked for more chips, they said it'd be extra. I could understand if I'd gotten a bag, like I do at literally every other place. At least the amount I would have gotten in a basket, if I had sat at the table. I travel the country consistently, like I'm literally always on the road and order to-go for nearly every meal. If you've ever seen the "baby chips" you get at Chipotle, this was that. But ok, fine. I'm not going to argue (tho note, at ordering I was willing to pay for them, which is why I asked) I used to date a Mexican. I've learned how to make real authentic salsa, I love salsa. I have driven 30 minutes to get some good salsa more than once in my life. Theirs was NOT authentic Mexican salsa. But when I asked for more, because what I had was for the chips, and I'd like some for my fajitas, he also said, "That would be extra." You don't expect me to use that tiny thing (equivalent of 3 ketchup packets) for both chips and fajitas. He told me, "That's what comes with it, your chips are complimentary. Anything else is extra" I only ever eat out, I'm ALWAYS ordering to-go. I eat 90% of my food from restaurants. There has never been a place that had salsa and wanted to charge me to have some for my meal. It's like ketchup. Have we EVER been charged for ketchup? I looked at the man, "If I was sitting down inside this restaurant, paying the price that I am for this food, and asking for what I'm asking for, would you not give it to me?" Him, "Well it doesn't come with it, but whatever." I get into my car and got to the other side of the parking lot, when I realized he didn't even bother giving me my tortillas WITH FAJITAS! And the kicker, when I went back and got them....they were flour. (In case you're wondering, this is not something you'd get by default at an authentic Mexican restaurant.) A few other things in this story wouldn't have happened at an authentic Mexican restaurant either. But I think I've given them more information on authenticity than the "complementary" items paid for. I'm in town for a couple more weeks. You would have seen me at least 5 more times, easy. Instead, you just have a review. And I'm going to find another Mexican place to...
Read moreWe left rather aggravated.. food was good but the service/attentiveness/general situational awareness of all the floor staff was terrible. It was not even remotely busy. We walked in and were noticed immediately just because there was a server bringing food to a table right in front of the front door as we were walking in. She pointed us to a booth in the corner that was wet and full of food debris from the previous people.
After about 10 minutes the server that pointed us to the booth came to bring us menus... Then disappeared. She finally came back to take our drink orders after us not seeing her for what seemed like forever. So instead of just giving her our drink orders we ordered drinks and our food all at once.
Drinks (coke) came out in the smallest cups I have ever seen at a restaurant. I could have probably drank the whole thing in two large gulps. Not too long after our food came out, our waitress completely disappeared. Less than halfway through our meals we both desperately needed refills and our waitress was nowhere to be found. We kept eating because we didn't have time to wait around.
With both just having a few bites of our meals left our waitress finally reappeared and asked quickly "refills?" To which we replied no and she immediately walked away. If she didn't just immediately walk away we would have asked for the check, but we finished our last few bites and then waited, and waited, and waited.. exactly 24 minutes until we saw her again and she walked up and asked if we wanted desert. We said no and asked for the check, and again she disappeared. 15 more minutes later and she FINALLY comes back with the check, I put down a debit card and again she disappears for another solid 10 to 15 minutes and at this point the place was nowhere near busy AT ALL.
We probably spent over 2 hours here for two simple meals for two people no dessert and no alcoholic drinks. I can understand service like this if it was busy, but it wasn't, not even close. Maybe we'll give them a try again in a month or two, but I doubt it. Which sucks considering we only live a half...
Read moreMy son, 11-year old grandson, and I went there today for the first time to have lunch. We have been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in Spring Hill to make our 'regular' place. The restaurant was around 15-20% full at peak lunch hour. The lunch menu had several items to choose from with reasonable prices. All of us ordered the chicken fajitas ($8.25). The meals were brought out and the fajita portions were large, too large for one person/meal, especially for an 11-year old. The flavor of the food was not great, but acceptable. The waitress delivered the check at the end of the meal. Instead of charging us $8.25 ea., we were charged $13.95 ea. I brought it to the attention of the waitress. She acknowledged not bringing lunch portions, but did not adjust the amounts. It's lunchtime, so why would she bring a dinner portion without confirming it beforehand? That's a 'gotcha!' in my opinion. They made an extra $18 off of us, but lost all of our future business ($$$$), and any possible business ($$$$$$) they would have received from those we would have recommended them to. That's not a way to do business, or to stay in business. It is not located in tourist area where a customer can get ripped-off without major consequences to a business. Here, they won't survive without the repeat business. That's too bad. On the brighter side, the location is perfect for a pizza shop. Who knows?? These are my opinions based on...
