Capt'n Jack's Waterfront Grill — Restaurant in Tarpon Springs

Went here on vacation a little over a week ago highly disappointed all 5 of us was...me and my sister got a cheeseburger and a friend got a mushroom Swiss cheeseburger all 3 burgers were burnt...hard as a rock burnt the cheese was hard as a rock bc it was burnt...my cousin got onion rings chicken strips or whatever your restaurant calls them and something else and she didn't like any of the food she got...another friend got a taco salad and she told the waitress she wanted taco sauce sour cream tomatoes and all the other stuff you get in a taco salad...she gets her taco salad and it doesn't have any taco sauce she tells the waitress she wanted taco sauce and the waitress said what is it you want then asked her again what she wanted a total of 3 times...so my sister said taco sauce the waitress then holds her hand up to one of her ears...idk if she couldn't hear bc they both were speaking clearly then my sister said seriously taco sauce salsa and the waitress said idk I've never heard of it before...when we first got there my cousin asked a guy if we seated ourselves or if we waited to be seated he said we seat you give me a minute I'll get her...he came back a couple minutes later and said I'll seat you he was gonna set us in a area tht was really hot and we asked him if we could sit by the water...he said yes but then after ordering our food we had to go find another worker and ask if we could switch tables bc it smelled like there was a dead animal near by...it didn't smell like tht before we ordered our food or we would have left she said yes and we moved back towards where you come in 3 tables and the smell was gone...waste of time and money best thing we got from there was pictures with the shark they have wouldn't recommend this...

I’m staying in tarpon springs to visit some family in new port Richie. We were immediately seated when we came in however, it took quite a bit for our server to even talk to us. It wasn’t super busy after that she pretty much talked to us with the least amount possible. We ordered drinks and 10 minutes later she came back and we ordered food. I have severe allergy’s and mention it to her she said that what I was ordering didn’t have any of my allergens in it. I ended up calling her over about 20 minutes later because she didn’t get back to me on the allergy thing and I wanted to make sure that she let the kitchen know to avoid cross contamination. She paused for a second and said oh I’ll go tell them and never got back to me about it. My boyfriend got a steak bowl I got crab cakes and his mom got the grouper appetizer. The food was OK, my boyfriend asked for medium and they gave us well. Done steak on the bowl. his mom said that the grouper appetizer she got was pretty good. My crabcakes were delicious and the green beans were too, I’m allergic to carrots in the server still had given me a sauce with carrots even after I mentioned the allergy. My boyfriend‘s mom also got a margarita for $17, she couldn’t taste any liquor. He tried it and he couldn’t taste anything either. It didn’t even taste like margarita mix it honestly tasted just like water with lemon in it. The view and atmosphere was quite nice, however for the price and service it’s...

We have passed this restaurant many times & always wanted to try it. Tonight, we did. We were seated outside on the ground floor. But I smelled cigarette smoke and mentioned that we wanted no smoking. So the host took us upstairs, and offered us a table outside. But since there was a possibility of a smoker in the area, we asked again for non smoking. He took us into the upstairs dining area. We were the only ones there and wondered about the service. But the service was excellent.

Our waitress was knowledgeable about the food. We did not want frozen fish, and the grouper was frozen as was the fish and chips. Husband got the fried shrimp, & Friend got the crab cake dinner. I got the tropical salad without protein. While we ordered, two ladies came in to sit at a table near us.

Our meals were delivered shortly after. We did enjoy what we ordered, but none of the meals was exceptional or memorable. However, the service was both. The ladies left before we paid our bill. So we enjoyed having the dining area to ourselves after eating, and talked for another 30 minutes.

We walked downstairs, by the solo singer playing guitar, and out to our car. Singer was pretty good. We’re not sure if we’ll be back. There are so many restaurants in this area, and being just okay is not a good...
