Best Greek restaurant in Florida. Any time we are passing by, we stop here for the flaming cheese and Greek Chou Mein. We found this Gem of a restaurant over 20 years ago. The food continues to always be amazing! The atmosphere is inviting and they are recently completed some renovations which really feel cozy and family oriented. The wait staff is phenomenal. This past time, Lorena was our Waitress! She did an outstanding job and I barely had to ask for anything. She took excellent care of us and we will be asking for her in the future visits. I have always loved their Saganaki better known as Flaming Cheese. The fry up a cheese plank, bring it to your table, pour a shot on it and light it on fire. The whole process is exciting and contagious. As soon as we have it, the rest of the customers want some too. After the flaming cheese, we get their Greek Chou Mein which is sautéed green peppers, onions, shredded feta cheese and rice pilaf with your choice of meat, we always get their Gyro. We love it so much that we always order 1-5 dishes to go and have for the next week or two. Amazing mouth watering, I am getting hungry just writing this review. Spectacular experience, a special place everyone needs to stop by and eat a meal here. Portion size is huge, the Gyro Greek Chou Mein is enough for 4 people. We also got a Greek salad and Rice pudding for dessert. Just the perfect meal. Thank you Mr. Souvlaki

We went on Mother's, so we expected a wait. We got seated quickly, but the service was quite lacking. It took over 20 minutes for our beverages to arrive, and another 40 minutes for our pita and tzatziki. The pita was fine, but the tzatziki was more of a garlic yogurt than cucumber spread. I love garlic, but this was too much. I went with the Greek French fries, expecting it to be better blended (feta doesn't melt very well, so it was like regular fries with ketchup because the cheese kept falling off) but it wasn't. I also ordered the chicken Greek Chow Mein. I'm not sure if it was because I was full on the bread waiting over an hour from our arrival to the entrée, but it actually tasted better as leftovers. I also threw the remaining feta from the fries and a light sprinkling of garlic salt on it, but I very much enjoyed the leftovers. I wouldn't be so irritated at the long wait if the larger group next to us didn't have a better server than ours. They got their drinks in a timely manner, they were checked on, they got their food and left before we finished our meal. I can't help but wonder if I should have ordered our drinks from that server (my husband had stepped away for a minute) so we would have had more attention paid to us. Our server just kept saying, "We are backed up on to-go orders, your food will be out shortly." It really shouldn't take 40 minutes for pita and tzatziki sauce in a Greek restaurant, but I'm not in that industry. We did get two free glasses of wine and a free order of angel puffs for the inconvenience, but a more attentive server and less garlic in the sauce would have made a better experience. Will I return? Not sure. Will I recommend to others? Not sure there, either... especially as the leftovers were better than the fresh meal. I don't think I would go out of my way to return, but I also don't think I would discourage others to try it out. It could have just been a bad day and most of the staff called in, I don't know. I do know that I won't be ordering the tzatziki sauce from there again.

Stopped in for lunch at Mr Souvlaki after visiting the Tarpon Springs Arts and Crafts Festival. We were greeted and seated immediately upon entering the restaurant. The dining room was bright and clean with plenty of windows and nice tables. Our pleasant server promptly came to the table with menus and took our drink orders. A few minutes later we ordered two lamb/beef Gyros and a cup of Avgolemono soup. A basket of bread came out with the delicious Avgolemono soup. Avgolemono is a silky, rich, fragrant chicken soup, prepared Greek-style with avgolemono sauce (Greek lemon-egg sauce with warm broth). A few minutes later, the gyros were served. These were okay. A bit salty, the pita was soggy, onions were pungent but the Tzatziki and tomatoes were delicious. The portion was huge with a generous amount of meat - enough to share. Mr Souvlaki is known for Greek Chow Mein which I should have ordered. Peak your interest? It's sautéed peppers & onions, shredded Feta cheese, and rice pilaf Topped with your choice of chicken or pork, shrimp, gyro m or vegetables. Mr Souvlaki is a long-standing authentic Greek Eatery with free on-site parking. Although our food experience want very good, we will go again and order something else. Reason? We met wonderful 90 year old life-long resident recently and he told us it's favorite.

After 10 years eating in that place enjoying every time, sending friends visiting from the north now we see such a sad downfall. We went there yesterday August 4, 2023 for dinner. Understaffed , our good waiter friend was killing himself trying to serve many tables, the lamb with rice I ordered was maybe good for no Greeks who don’t know authentic kouzina, rice was lapas, (overcooked) uneatable salad for the birds and my wife’s chicken dinner σκέτη αηδία, disgusting. Next table they had ordered Pastichio and just looking at it you wanted to vomit as it was covered with tomato sauce. That is not authentic Greek food. So sad. As much as I hate been negative for any Greek since I am Greek I hope this may help them to do something about it. 2 weeks before that we ordered take out dinners. Never mind we trashed both meals in one of them we found a piece of plastic which we took back to them and to their credit apologized and gave us our money back and a gift certificate. Yet the whole picture is gray. So sad.

Based on other reviews I ordered the Greek Chow Mein which is a house specialty. It was good, the tomato sauce was an interesting combination but overall it was enjoyable. The Greek side salad was a big portion and delicious. The chicken on the skewers we ordered was perfectly grilled. I have celiac so I was looking for gluten free options. Nothing was marked GF on the menu but the waitress did give me some suggestions. I was a little disappointed that we ordered the cheese for the table that they light on fire and when I asked if it had flour she said it did. When we were leaving another server told us it can be made without the flour (so I could have eaten it), so we wished our server had thought to offer that option. Overall though it was a great dinner and everyone enjoyed what they ate , prices were reasonable and portions were decent.

We have been to Mr. Souvlaki before and thought the food might have been better. The food is still good though. That said the chow mein was a little dry and the chicken was over seasoned, too salty. So, good location, good price point, good service, and pretty good food. Beware if you are looking for a sign off the road, the last hurricane must have blown it out. This should be prioritized as the restaurant is off a busy street, and we and our guests both drove by the restaurant as we were looking for the sign. I love the large windows and how bright the restaurant room is. Our waitress was a real sweetheart. The iced tea was fresh brewed and excellent, and the refills kept coming. So still a good spot to frequent.
