I had a very disappointing visit with Chops at Bonita location. I have dined here many times and I have always complimented the staff of how wonderful my experience has been. I have shared this establishment with many friends, family, and colleagues. In previous encounters there was a woman manager that made rounds and asked how our dining experience was going and it felt like a very genuine and sincere place to dine. On this night, my partner booked a 5pm reservation for my birthday and requested an intimate accommodation. When we arrived, the manager Todd was at the front and pondered his seating arrangement for a few seconds before very blandly instructing the hostess to seat us. As we walked through the restaurant, there were only 2 other parties that were just seated, as the restaurant just opened. On our way to our table we passed many beautiful open tables. The hostess continued us on to the most obviously undesirable table in the entire restaurant. We were seated in the very back of the restaurant next to the kitchen and walk-pass frequented by staff. It was uncomfortably loud. Our waiter walked up to greet us and we immediately asked if we could be accommodated somewhere else, as it was loud with clinking of plates and staff congregated right next to our table engaging in conversations amongst each other. Our waiter said he would talk to his manager Todd about our concerns because he agreed it was very loud. As we were discussing this with our waiter there was even a staff member in the kitchen that was on his cell phone on a phone call. Our waiter apologized and suggested that there were other open seats in other sections and was sure it wouldn’t be a problem to switch our table as the restaurant just opened. Our waiter quickly returned and to our surprise said that his manager Todd said the restaurant was going to be full capacity and the only accommodation they could make was the seat adjacent to us which was a larger circular booth also right next to the kitchen which clearly would not improve our experience. We were so shocked by this as it sounds so silly when you are staring at a bare dining room. Our waiter then told us that if we insisted on changing our seats, the manager suggested that we “go up there ourselves” to the front of the restaurant and speak to him directly about it. I work in upper management myself and was baffled by this as a response. (Interestingly, another review on your page, the owner responded with saying table changes are always accommodated so not sure why this was an issue for us). Our waiter was very nice so we decided to just let it go and continue in our uncomfortable seats. My partner has a dairy intolerance to cheese and ordered the Organic Chicken entree that comes with stuffed white cheddar cheese and we have always requested this to be substituted with whipped mashed potatoes. I understand that it’s not always easy to make substitutions but every time we have eaten here, the staff has always accommodated this request without hesitation especially due to an allergy. This time however, we were told that substitutions aren’t allowed and rather we would have to order a completely separate side dish of potatoes in addition to the entree. I’m not sure what this staff or manager on duty Todd had against us on this particular night, but it was very well short of even a fair dining experience. The only redeeming quality was that the food was delicious but the treatment we received from Manager Todd was truly disappointing that a manager in the service industry can’t even make a simple accommodation on someone’s special night. It’s just not a good look nor feeling when an establishment picks and chooses who they want to treat with care and respect. If I were rating this restaurant on other nights I’ve dined here I would rate a 10/10. The owner of Chops should really evaluate training with the management staff before their reputation becomes diminished and irreparable due to a bad apple Manager who doesn’t...

Read moreWe were seated within ten minutes of our 7pm reservation time. We brought a 1.5L bottle of our wine and were charged a corkage fee for two bottles given the size of the bottle. When we called to ask about the policy for bringing in wine, nothing was mentioned about size of bottle and we have never been charged a double corkage fee at any other restaurant in the Naples area and often bring 1.5L bottles. We were displeased with surprise of the double corkage fee however we went ahead and had the wine opened. We were seated at the table at 7:10pm. Our wine was opened and one glass was poured for each of 5 members of our party drinking red wine. Three members of our party wanted to order a bottle of white wine and the first three bottles they chose off the wine list were not available. They finally settled for a bottle that the server knew was in stock. Why offer a big wine list if many bottles are not available? We then sat for 50 minutes pouring our own wine and receiving no water refills or bread service. The server finally came at 8pm to take our food order. Apparently a corkage fee at Chops Bonita Springs simply means opening a bottle of wine, pouring an initial glass and never pouring refills. Chops Bonita Springs has excellent food. Our server was working very hard and I do not blame her for the nearly one hour wait to place an order. I have to blame the management. The manager’s response to my post on trip advisor did not address the one hour wait to order and instead wanted to review the corkage policy policy. I am posting here as I could not comment back on trip advisor. Management lack of concern and attention to service issues at Chops Bonita springs is awful. While the food is excellent, there are many restaurants at the same price point that offer wonderful food and amazing service. I suggest trying Angelina’s instead of spending money at Chops Bonita Springs where the management does not seem appreciative of the business and cannot acknowledge when the...
