Beware ordering within 30 minutes of posted closing time at the Hamlin location. This occurred on the evening of Saturday, 7/22, between 8:35 and 9:00 PM. I have attempted to contact a Manager since then to resolve 1:1 but apparently only the Shift Leads are on site on Sunday’s and Monday’s. We placed an order through the C&G app at approximately 8:30. Received a pick time of 8:50. I arrived at the store at approximately 8:48. In asking about the status of our order the Shift Lead (wearing black) reached over and handed me one salad. I stated that we had two salads and she looked over and said she was working on the other. I noticed while waiting for my other salad that crew members were cleaning the salad line and putting away utensils , bins, and other items. The Shift Lead walked over and handed me a salad. Upon reviewing the salad ingredients and the label, I advised her that it was not my salad. She told me it was what I ordered, and point to my name on the other salad label. I told her that the salad’s ingredients with my name on it were correct, but the one I was holding was not the salad I ordered. I pulled up my order and showed her and she simply stated “Oh yeah”. I then noticed that there was a different name on the salad I was holding, and told her so…as well as stating that person is going to be looking for his salad. She said he had already picked up his order and just left, and therefore “the orders must have been switched”…and then just stood there and looked at me. I asked what I was supposed to do as this was my dinner, and she replied that she couldn’t do anything for me because there was “no more food”. Keep in mind this was all before the posted closing time of 9:00 PM. I again asked what I was supposed to do since the other person’s salad was no where near what I had ordered (and paid for) and I couldn’t eat it. She stated she “could see what she could put together but that there was no more food”. At this point I was so frustrated that I didn’t even ask her what that would look like. Then another customer came in and the Shift Lead stepped away from me and attended to the other customer, leaving me standing there. She then came back and then just stood there looking at me. We again had the conversation about what was I going to do and her making “something” but without food. She then offered to refund my money but by this time I was so frustrated and angry about the way I was being treated I was afraid of what I might say, so I grabbed the bag and left. My wife was waiting for her salad and it was late. It was clear that this Shift Lead wanted to get off work as quickly as possible, and had started her crew putting away all the food and started cleaning…before the posted closing time of 9:00 PM. So when this screw up occurred all the food had been put away and she didn’t want to go to the trouble of making the order right and be delayed getting off. When I got home my wife’s salad didn’t have any dressing, even though it was listed on the order slip attached to the salad. It was clear that in her haste to get off as close to 9:00 she had failed across the board. This occurrence is unfortunate because we have been a frequent customers since C&G opened, and aside from a few errors in orders, we found the food to be great and the staff pleasant and attentive. I hope this was an isolated occurrence and not the C&G team’s standard procedure, but I warn others when placing orders within a half hour of the posted closing time. I would suggest to C&G management that if your staff is scheduled to end their shift at 9:00, then you post an 8:30 closing time to avoid future occurrences such as this. This is not the way to...
Read moreThe variety of Ingredients is admirable but I was sad to see that the roasted butternut squash was no longer available (it is apparently only a seasonal item).
In the past I’d ordered the one Vegan bowl listed (Seoul Bowl) but asked for a different sauce because I am very sensitive to spicy food. I opted for the Thai peanut sauce, which they told me was not spicy. They let me taste it, but a tiny taste on my tongue felt tolerable at the time, but once the bowl was covered with it it indeed was too spicy for me. So this time I decided to go for the Teriyaki Bowl and just swap out the chicken for tofu, and was expecting a Teriyaki flavored dish. But when they pulled out the “teriyaki sauce” I questioned them because it was a creamy looking yellowish sauce with visible seasoning in it and I was expecting a sweet thick dark teriyaki sauce. I also asked if it was spicy because it didn’t look like any teriyaki sauce I had seen and they told me no (hint: it contains jalapeños, see ingredients list below). Once again, they let me taste a tiny bit of it, and I did feel a little bit of heat, but felt it would be tolerable but again, it was burning my lips when I ate it in the bowl. It also tasted absolutely NOTHING like teriyaki sauce, which is what I was wanting when I ordered that bowl. The bowl contained fajita onions and peppers, and roasted broccoli which was way over cooked. It was pale green and mushy and it was two giant stalks instead of small bite sized pieces.
I think if you are OK with spicy foods, you will enjoy the variety of options offered here, but just be aware That 10 out of their 13 sauces are spicy and only one (Balsamic) out of the 9 Vegan sauces is not spicy. And unfortunately, I am not a fan of balsamic.
On a positive note their Vegan Rice Crispy squares...
Read moreWe found out about this store by accident and we’re really looking forward for a week to go in as we dine out at least twice a week and we really enjoy entree salads and bowls. My wife ordered a make your own and was disappointed when she found out there was no arugula and only a couple pieces of cucumber ln the bottom of an insert. This was 2 PM on a Friday afternoon. She was told there was nothing could be done about that. I ordered the Buffalo chicken bowl and it was good in spite of the chicken being a little rubbery from being stored in a steam table and the lettuce and other ingredients were not very cold. What was disturbing to me was the two dressings I ordered had to be banged out of the container as the containers were practically empty. Bad show right there. As a retired Starwood chef who ran a 1500 cover a day three meal outlet with two hot buffet Lines two cold buffet lines and either two omelette cooks or meat carvers the way this buffet was being handled leaves a lot to be desired. For a start cold food should be served cold and cooked food should be stored in a hot box or under a heat lamp for a short time rather than an insert with liquid in it in steam table. There really didn’t seem like anyone was in charge. I wish the owners success but we will not be dining here again. I went into the restroom to wash my hands and the cucumber insert was completely full as was the arugula storage area. I suppose my wife wasn’t good enough to have those filled while she was in the line. Another possible area of improvement would be to train the people who are cleaning the tables and sweeping the floor not to go directly behind the line without washing their hands and start to prepare salads. I really don’t like writing...
