As a barbecue enthusiast who typically frequents sit-down, mom-and-pop establishments, I approached Dickey's with some apprehension. Keeping in mind that Dickey's is more of a fast-food style restaurant than a true sit-down dining experience, I was actually pleasantly surprised and found it comparable to some of the sit-down barbecue experiences I've had in the past. My judgment on ribs is admittedly a bit skewed from a pitiful recent experience at the South Florida fair, but I was pleasantly surprised with Dickey's ribs nevertheless - tender and flavorful. The brisket was decent though reminiscent of beef jerky - not bad, but not exceptional either. The kielbasa met expectations - it's hard to mess up. Their sides were a mixed bag: the mac and cheese reminded me of KFC's (not a bad thing), while the baked potato casserole (essentially loaded mashed potatoes) was the weakest link but still edible. Their hot honey sauce surpasses Wingstop's but doesn't compete with PDQ or Chick-fil-A's limited-time sandwich sauce. The absolute star was the Texas toast - a perfect 10/10, truly exceptional. The exceedingly friendly and courteous staff enhanced the entire experience. Overall, good value and I...
Read moreThe Good: very good customer service all team members at the very least made eye contact and welcomed every single person that entered the building.
The chicken is phenomenal!! Whatever it’s seasoned with it cooked in is sooo good! Nice and juicy!
The atmosphere is very well done..
The Bad: The portions are so small your jaw will hit the floor, my guest and I left feeling ripped off paying $14 for a meal that had 2 ounces of chicken breast and 2 ounces of pulled pork! I’m no pro and I didn’t weigh the meats but yes to the naked eye it seemed to be that amount
The sides: I had waffle fries and baked potato casserole neither were good and the fries came at a delay after we were already eating
The sauces: you have to go up to these hot containers and get it yourself and they didn’t taste good or fresh
Other: pretty sure the AC was broken they had the back door propped open and it was very hot.
All in all my guest and I agreed that we would never return and both left hungry feeling ripped off the pulled pork is better at Sonny’s to be honest and I find that place...
Read moreIf your looking for a great place to eat with excellent customer service where the owners husband Mathew will treat you will respect, then don’t spend your money here. Mathew was rude from the very minute we walked into the restaurant. This was very disappointing as we have been loyal patrons of Dickies in other states.
Mathew demanded to see our kids while ordering their meals as if we were trying to save a buck by ordering the kids meals. I was so shocked that I had to show him photos on my phone of the twins and he still was disrespectful. Even after ordering my adult meal with the kids meals, he did not apologize for his disrespectful behavior. Even his own staff was quietly apologizing for his rudeness. When I discovered Mathew was married to the owner I then realized he thinks he can just be rude to any patron without any consequence.
Consequences will be that more and more customers will not return to be...
