I first stopped into Cardita Formal Wear about 7 years ago at the request of two friends that would soon be hosting their wedding in South Florida. They had never visited the shop themselves but wanted someone in the wedding party to stop in and help them decide between Cardita and one of large men’s chain stores in the area. The owner Clifford immediately impressed me. Not just with his selection of attire, but with his passion for men’s fashion and willingness to go to any lengths to make sure his clients get exactly what they want. I tried on a few different tux’s and chatted with Clifford for probably an hour and half. Unfortunately, despite my raving review, the couple decided to go with the large chain store thinking there would not be much of a difference in quality or experience.

Fast forward to the Thursday evening before the Saturday wedding. The groom and I met at the store to try on/pick up our tuxedos and let me tell you…they were bad. Comically bad. The pants were baggy and did not fit correctly. The shoes had no shine to them and had these really thick rubber soles. The vest and tie were not the same color the couple had picked out, and the tie felt like it was just a piece of thin cardboard covered in cloth. When the bride walked in and saw us all she could say was, “what the f@%k are you wearing?” Obviously, the couple was unhappy, but with less than 48 hours until the wedding, there weren’t any options other than to take the tuxedos and accept the fact that all of the guys were going to look ridiculous on their wedding day.

I told the bride to call Cardita Formal Wear on Friday morning and maybe we could arrange to rent better shoes, vests, and ties from them on short notice. She called and Clifford did one better; He agreed to completely outfit the groom, groomsman, fathers, and brothers (at least a dozen of us in total). We sent in our measurements Friday afternoon, and they had everything ready to be picked up on Saturday morning. A few of the groomsmen did not know their sizes, so they just showed up on the day of the wedding and Clifford took care of the rest. If any of the guys needed an alteration, Cardita Formal Wear did it on the spot. He taught a couple of us how to tie a bow tie and even offered to send one of his staff to the hotel that afternoon to help tie them if need be. I personally do not know of any other tuxedo shops that could fulfill an order that size so effortlessly given the time frame we were working with. Seriously impressed and everyone looked great at the wedding.

Fast forward (again) to a couple of months ago when I needed a tux to attend a black-tie event. I had not spoken to Clifford in many years, but I sent him a message and let him know I would be swinging by his shop to rent a tux. When I arrived, he immediately recognized me, greeted me warmly, asked how I have been, asked how the married couple is doing (even remembered their names), and recalled the color and style of tuxedo we wore for the wedding so many years ago. He filled me in on what he has been up to and how he’s leveled up his customer service since we last spoke. While there, Clifford fitted me in a tuxedo and had it altered within a few minutes, so I could take it with me and avoid another trip.

I know my review is long, but I think it is important to recognize excellence in business when come across. Cardita Formal Wear is the real deal and will undoubtedly leave you impressed. I had my wedding on Janurary 16th, 2016. I called exactly 4 weeks ahead of time to get me and my 8 groomsmen fitted and suits ready for the day. Immediately I was told that it would be no problem at all and there would be no rush fees or anything along those lines because they have EVERYTHING in storage at the store. What a relief because two of my groomsmen got fitted 3 days before the wedding and the suits were ready by the very next day. Cliff was an incredible help to me during this whole ordeal. He went over and beyond to get me into the suit that would look perfect on me. I told him what suit I wanted, he put it on me, and we looked at it and it looked great, but he told me to stay put. I stood there looking at the suit and was really liking it, but then he came out with a completely different suit than what I asked for and told me to at least just try it on. I put on this new suit, and was blown away by how incredible I looked. I asked him if it was the same price and he said indeed it was, and that's why he suggested it to me. He is a very honest man and wants to see the groom look just as good as the bride. He always mentions that it's not just the Brides day, but also the grooms as well in a very respectful way of course. Once you go to Carditas, you will never go anywhere else when looking for a suit. It blows Men's Warehouse out of the water, or anything else in the area. Before you buy/rent a suit PLEASE, go to Cardita's just to at least look at what they have. I swear you will not be...

I cannot express how great my experience was at Cardita Formal Wear. My father passed away this week and unfortunately, none of the suits I've worn in the past fit. This is pretty common for me when it comes to formal wear...I run around the city looking for a clothes that look nice and work with my broad shoulders, difficult love handles, and ever-shifting weight.

I was expecting such a trip, but my wife did the research and suggested we try this suit shop. In the past, I've been ok with the results of such shops, but the experience was never great. They often come with astronomical prices and a feeling of being judged and rushed. But that is not the case with Cardita.

When we entered the store, we were greeted by a young man named Joseph. Joesph was friendly, cordial, complimentary, and disarmingly relaxed. He told me exactly what I needed to do, without a hint of judgement or pressure. I spoke to him a bit and got the sense he was being groomed to one day run his own shop, and let me tell you, he will have earned it.

The end result was stellar. I looked the best I have looked in years and received loads of compliments (which were quite uplifting at such a somber time.)

My cousin, who is a lesbian, was also treated with the exact same kindness and respect when she picked out a jacket to wear.

All of this combined lead to an incredible experience. I expect to visit Cardita for all formal events...
