Read moreMy companion and I went to Duffy’s for dinner after attending a theatre performance. We were greeted and seated promptly, menus were given to us immediately. Our server, Simon, was extremely personable and friendly. He told us of the specials and that it was 2 for 1 drinks, but if we didn’t care for the 2nd drink, our tab would be reduced. He took our appetizer orders. I had mozzarella sticks and my friend had French onion soup. Both were excellent. The mozzarella sticks are made in-house (not the frozen, from the grocery kind) and they came out piping hot with a spicy marinara dipping sauce. Yum! The French onion soup also came out steaming hot, with a lovely coat of melted, baked cheese adorning the top. My friend loved it and she’s very picky. While we were having our appetizers, Simon came by the table to see if we needed anything, to make sure our food was to our liking and to let us know that our main courses were coming out in a few minutes. He didn’t hover, push or try to turn the table. That was appreciated. I got mahi-mahi fish tacos and my partner got an entree salad (large enough for two meals). I got my fish blackened and it was very well cooked. A pineapple/mango salsa was on top that was delicious. My partner enjoyed her salad very much and Simon came by to check on our food, refill our water glasses and bring us fresh napkins. He was cheery and talkative in a great way. NOTE: Simon not only served his tables, but he was responsible for bussing and cleaning them, as well. Yet, he was efficient, pleasant and a marvelous ambassador for Duffy’s. Simon brought us a dessert menu and gave us his recommendations, but we were stuffed. We had a very nice experience at Duffy’s and will be back soon. About Duffy’s…it’s a sports bar with lots of tvs and sports “stuff” throughout the restaurant. It’s very, very casual. If you’re looking for sushi, a $145 Tomahawk steak or a “fine dining” experience, go elsewhere. If you’re looking for great salads, tacos, burgers, wings and appetizers in a kid-friendly, relaxed, fun environment, then Duffy’s is for...
Read moreI recently visited this Duffy’s location for the first time in years, and unfortunately, it fell far below the standard I’ve come to expect from the brand. Upon arrival, the host simply stared at us for a few moments before I stated our party size—no greeting, no acknowledgment. After that, she said nothing and just walked off, so we followed her to the table. The entire interaction felt very awkward and unwelcoming.
Service throughout the meal was lacking. Our server, an older woman, seemed overwhelmed—though I don’t blame her personally, it clearly affected the overall experience. She wasn’t very attentive, and there was little to no acknowledgment when I thanked her. While I’m not expecting five-star service, a simple response or even eye contact would’ve gone a long way.
The food itself was unfortunately the worst part—bland and flavorless. Between that and the service, it just didn’t measure up to the quality I’ve experienced at other Duffy’s locations, particularly the one off Hypoluxo, which I’ll continue to frequent instead.
A few small but frustrating details added to the disappointment: my daughter’s applesauce came without a spoon, my side dish was incorrect, my other child didn’t receive the sauce they requested, and there was no ketchup at our table even though all others had it—I had to grab it from an empty table nearby.
None of these issues on their own are massive, but together they created a very poor dining experience. It’s a shame, as I used to enjoy this location, but it seems to have declined...
