My family and I, all proud Puerto Ricans, recently dined at Mata Munchies, and we were absolutely blown away by the experience. Finding truly authentic Puerto Rican food outside of the island can be a challenge, but Mata Munchies surpassed all our expectations.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional service. The staff made us feel right at home, and their attention to detail and friendliness added to the wonderful dining experience.
Now, onto the food. Every dish we tried was nothing short of amazing. The flavors were spot-on, reminiscent of our abuela's cooking back home. The mofongo was perfectly seasoned, the pernil was tender and flavorful, and the alcapurria transported us straight to Puerto Rico. Each bite was a celebration of our rich culinary heritage.
Mata Munchies has truly captured the essence of Puerto Rican cuisine, offering a taste of home that is hard to find. If you are looking for an authentic and delicious Puerto Rican meal, this is the place to go. We will definitely be returning for more of their incredible dishes.

Read more5 stars ⭐️- I had this placed Saved on my “Go to” places. Came here on a Sunday and it wasn’t full because it was 1 hr before closing time. But there was still plenty customers, so I can only imagine on a busy Friday or Saturday. I love the atmosphere and the vibe at this place. They did a pretty good job with the PR 🇵🇷 theme! The music, the pool tables, domino table, and airplane seats 💺 makes you feel like you’re in a restaurant in PR! The food was delicious 😋 I had the Arroz con gandules, sweet plantain and pernil it was 🔥! My girl got the “Costilla de Res” with Arroz con gandules Tostones and Guac. It was also very tasty the meat had a nice grilled taste. For appetizer we had the empanadas, hands down get the Beef one, over the chicken. Beef had cheese inside as well and was very flavorful! - $3 for ONE (a bit pricey for an empanada - 2 for $4 it’s probably where I would say it’s fair) but oh well. I don’t make the prices. Overall very nice hidden spot in West Palm. I had driving by Military Trail so many times and didn’t know about it, but I’m glad I do now!...
Read moreSo if I rate the place and ambiance it will be a 4.5. The decor and the huge flag wall are lovely. I felt like I was in PR that, I loved is not a 5 because the person taking care of you at the counter lacks Customer Service skills and wasn't sure if the food was or was not available. Now the food hummmmm the Empanadilla de Pizza was the worst I ever had it was made with canned tomato sauce or paste im not sure....Chicharones de pollo they were really chicken fingers I was not able to find the crunch or the bones it was really chicken breast cut lightly breaded and fried. My friend had the Mofongo con camarones. The Shrimp were small like the ones you use for asopao. The mofongo tasted like the shrimp because it was served on top so couldn't tell the actual flavor of the mofongo. The Alcapurrias were ok. Over all will be back for the music the ambiance and the Passion Fruit...
