In my honest opinion. The food is always very good, but service was beyond horrible!! I’ve never been the one to play the race card, but myself and my fellow African-American work colleague went to eat there after a day at the office. All the other non-African-American customers being treated very well (being checked up on, getting their drinks refreshed, multiple customers who came in after us were all served prior…and we ordered a common meal, etc.).
Our server gave us our initial drinks and after about 45 minutes, a second person brought our order. That was it…for over an hour no one checked up on us! But the Hispanic customers around us continued getting served and checked up on! No refill on water….NOTHING!! My colleague and I were at a high table, in a very noticeable area, so it’s not as if we couldn’t be seen. We constantly watched while the other customers were receiving excellent service.
While trying to get the attention of a server, they just walked by as if we weren’t there. Finally, I caught the sever and asked for a refill on coffee…that took 25 minutes (and yes, other customers were still being checked up on and receiving service). The server put on a fake smile while in front of me, but her face suddenly had a look of irritation as she began walking away.
When the coffee was finally brought over, I asked to speak to a manager. One of the other severs (posing as a manager) came over and I explained the situation. She just looked at me with a blank face as if I was wasting her time. SHE GAVE ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE….NOTHING AT ALL…JUST A DUMBFOUNDED LOOK. She then just handed me the credit card machine to check out.
I went to the office the next day and spoke to another one of my African-American colleagues. He told me that he experienced a similar situation another time, when a group of African-Americans who work at my office, went there after work. He said that the servers were very rude and they were ignored service throughout. This was very disappointing to hear, As I was hoping this was just an isolated incident. I know now...
Read moreWalked in, no one acknowledges me. After a few minutes I looked for a seat. 3 waitresses at the counter, two customers together being helped. I sat for a while.
A black woman from the kitchen comes out to speak with the customer that was at the counter, discussing something about the menu. Still no one at my table. When she finish, she stand there and get on her cell phone texting. After a few minutes K asked if she could take my order. She walks over and tells a waitress to take my order.
When the waitress comes over, I asked what’s this Sunday’s Speacial. She go ask the black woman from the kitchen. She comes back, Snapper with salad rice, avocado, and plantain. I ask if I can get beans instead of salad. Black woman says No. I ask how much is it. She says it’s $18 and change. I’m telling them that’s not as peacock. I been coming here almost two years and it’s always $18 after taxes as regular price. Black woman walks away.
I tell the waitress, that’s type of Special same price as any regular day is stupid. Pulse it forces you to get what THEY SAY as side dishes all for the SAME REGULAR price.
Okay. I order the Snapper at regular price with sides that I WANT. Waitress finally comes with it after 20 mins since I ordered it. Tells me. Wait. I’m going to get your plantains. I look down and it’s a bony, tiny, malnutrition’s fish.
I am use to them presenting the meatiest, nicest and juiciest fish on the plate.
Today was just a pathetic day with them. Really isn’t what it use to be. I left the food and walked away. I went to La Granja. You want tasty food with good service. Stop by La Granja here on Northlake Blvd.
The KING FISH is Awesome for the same $18, pulse you can choose the side YOU WANT and it comes with...
Read moreIt's with a heavy heart I have to leave this review because I use to love coming to this place for lunch. Almost everyday before covid. The atmosphere and the TV'S, the decoration and up until recently the food and service was pleasant. This month I've gone in 3 times and a week ago I was in for breakfast and had a terrible experience. Mind you this is 11 11:10am on a tuesday and the restaurant is not busy at all. I ordered a simple breakfast, scrambled eggs and an arepa with cheese. At the same time I came in another gentleman sat down at a different table and ordered what seemed to be a churrasco and rice and beans. By 11:25am 11:30am I look over at the man and he was already half way through his meal. I waited until 11:40am and my server Yura had not come to my table once to tell me anything about my order. I got up and complained at the bar where the manager was and she did absolutely nothing to make anything better. She just stood there with a blunt expression and offered no apology for whatever mistake happened whether the kitchen or the staff forgot the order. On Saturday June 12 I was there with my girlfriend and her family and the server completely forgot my girlfriend's order which was simply a burger and fries. All the food came out and she had to leave to work without eating that day. I can understand that day was a little busier and it was a Saturday and the server apologized about the mistake. I love this place and hate to leave comment like this but I hope they can learn from their mistakes and leaving this review is the only way they can give the attention to a matter like this. 45 minute wait for a simple breakfast (scrambled eggs and an arepa with cheese) that never came. No apology. So...
