Pho 1 — Restaurant in West Palm Beach

The restaurant smells bad, the pork of papaya salad is very cold ( like just be taken out from the refrigerator) . The young female waiter is rude, she came and asked what I want to order, then I replied polite with her, and she just Aha, uhu, ok. Very rude . She is Vietnamese and I am Vietnamese also and we talked in Vietnamese , so there is no language barrier here. Berber come back. Hope this restaurant can improve service and cleaning . Update reply for the answer from the owner restaurant : the young waiter she did not only talk uh hu, ( ừ hứ , à há , ok with me. ) She speak Vietnamese like a native , ( when I ask about the cat fish , she answer very clearly ) , so it is not like you said she does not understand Vietnamese. That time I was not happy with this and thought should I talk directly with her : “ don’t say à há, ừ hứ , OK “ with The guest . About the smell of restaurant , it is bad, I don’t need to lie to you, other guests don’t complain ? I don’t know , maybe they think it is normal for them, maybe even it is smell bad for them but they just don’t have time to review! Other thing, I told the pork of salad is cold , it is true.( I know the green papaya is cold of course because I ate them a lot in different restaurants. ) , but with the pork it is not really good for this, at least you need to heat the pork again. The food was delicious, the server was fantastic. We ordered spring rolls for starter, the Pho with steak and brisket, the extra large pho with steak and meatballs as main course, and we were planning to have the matcha Cheesecake, but the portions are so large that we didn't make it to the dessert. Everything we tried was perfect, and flavors were very much freshly home made, which we appreciated. We also ordered a tea and an iced Thai tea, both were fantastic!

I do have 2 recommendations. The first one is the background music, it's really nice, but they had the same song in repeat, so we heard it at least 4 times. My second recommendation, there was a kid, possibly someone related to the owners, in the background with a very loud cellphone, even louder than the music, watching videos with very up toned words and yelling profanity. That was definitely a mood...

We have eaten here several times even though the service is slow and unfriendly, but the price was reasonable for the amount of food served, so we kept coming back. Today is our last trip. We were automatically charged a 20% gratuity for no apparent reason (we have always been generous tippers previously) but the service was particularly bad this visit. There was no posted notice about mandatory gratuity for certain party sizes, though that likely would not have applied as we were only a party of four. The restroom was clean, but there was no toilet paper. The portion size is not good enough for us to come back when we get better, faster and friendlier service at their nearby competitor.
