I do not reside in Frt.lauderdale, however I was there for work and decided to Google Jamaican restaurants close by me at the time, which would be convenient, since I would have to drive back a few hours home. I came across G's restaurant and even though I wasn't encouraged after reading the reviews from customers, I went nontheless for my own experience. I ordered a fried chicken meal, and before I could ask for my side and gravy of preference, the server gave me two options, brown stew or curry chicken gravy, I wanted neither, so as the customer ahead of me did I also asked for curry goat gravy, the servers response was, "brown stew or curry chicken", without even explaining that what I asked for wasn't an option, I then ask for oxtail gravy and once more her response was "brown stew or curry chicken", Already disappointed with the way I'm being treated as a first timer, I let it slide, I then ask for plantains as sides, and she boldly told me that she does not have plantains, I said okay I'll take cabbage, during the midst of her preparing my order a chef came out with a pot of plantains, during the midst of her preparing my order the customer behind me, without ease dropping, I heard, also asking for curry goat gravy and it was given to her by Ms G, herself. I would like to highlight that the Food was awesome, But I will not continue to support this business as a result of my experience, Ms G, Big up yuhself, but the light skin lady inna di blue weh serve mi have very little to offer your business and her demenear sadly, is not inviting and therefore cannot be the best representation or image of...
Read moreWARNING, DON'T EAT HERE!!! I still have gas from eating just plantains.. I came to this restaurant because of the reviews. Waking into the empty restaurant the Lady had an attitude and was very rude in answering my questions and clearly doesn't want to be there. The cashier had the nerve to try to give me a hard time and argue with me because I wanted jerk chicken that was not ready, they didn't have patty. The akee was extremely drowned in oil, so I couldn't have breakfast. The food itself was drowned and sitting in oil and the salt fish was drowned in oil. I asked for side of the plantains, it seemed to be old and soggy like they were made hours earlier, nothing remarkable where I would reconsider going back again. they didn't have the option of authentic carribean food that I expected from a restaurant. I'm not from Florida, I'm visiting for the weekend and doing business in the neighborhood. This was a very, Very bad experience! I will not...
Read moreMiss G has become like family. She helped me feed my mother when she was sick and would only really like to eat her regular Jamaican food.
She was my Mother’s favourite restaurant because well, her food is above all the other Jamaican restaurants in the area quite frankly.
It was only fitting that she catered my Mother’s repast and let me tell you, the guests were RAVING about the food. She helped me put on a great spread, and I’ll always be grateful for her kindness.
Go here for the best, curry goat, curry chicken, jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, oxtail and snapper fish. Breakfast includes ground food, liver, callaloo, ackee & salt fish.
