We were here for an event and we ended up returning the next day because the food was just that good. The Salmon is to die for….My husband fell in love with the smothered chicken and pork chops…also the regular and Red Velvet cornbread! The Pink Lemonade….OMG, SO GOOD!! Now….a little constructive criticism…is the side dishes are a little pricey for the portion. I ordered a side of rice and got a small cup (not even a healthy portion) for $5…the price is ok as long as it’s….WORTH IT! Also, I ordered a turkey wing dinner to go and there was only 1 turkey wing, turkey wings are not expensive and dinners in mostly all soul food restaurants include 2 meats. My husband had smothered chicken and pork chop and both meals had 2 pieces of both. One other thing, both days we ordered something with the expectation of getting it only to receive disappointing news that….You didn’t have it! When you are out of something let your waitress’ know this, so when customers place the order they can communicate that. Other than that….The food is AMAZING! The customer service was even more Amazing the young lady that waited on us both days was so sweet! When we are in town again we will be returning…..hopefully to some healthier portions for the prices…..(sides) both dine in and take out, a Full menu! Oh and one more thing….I absolutely Loved the old school music...
Read moreI was excited to try this place, as I love good soul food and it was recommended. The atmosphere was nice, and it was clean and not too busy. My hubby asked for baked chicken, but they had no more. So he got the smothered pork chops. He said they were good, and the collard greens were really good. I ordered the fried chicken. To my surprise, they brought out chicken wings (4 of them). Now, I saw chicken wings on the menu, and purposely didn't choose that. I wanted some delicious, juicy, southern fried chicken. She explained that it was "fried chicken". Maybe it's just me, but I was highly disappointed by that. There's a difference between ordering fried chicken and ordering chicken wings. I expected to see like a breast & thigh, or something. They were decent, but just not what I wanted. Then the macaroni & cheese didn't have much taste and was hard in some parts. The candied yams were good, but very sweet - I guess that's okay. The best part for me was the cornbread. I may give them another try because I want to try other dishes, but I was just so taken aback by those wings masquerading as fried chicken. I don't know, we'll see. Pricing was as expected, not too bad. Overall, not a horrible experience. I just hope they get it together with their fried chicken, especially as a...
Read moreCame in with a party of four as we were in town from Chicago. We waited over an hour for our food. At no point was there ever more than 20 people in the restaurant. With the constant errors at the table next to us it appears to be a communication issue in the kitchen. The guy that started off serving us was nice. Then out of no where there was a lady serving us. Then ANOTHER lady. No name tags I don’t know who I’m addressing or who the real server was. Just disorganized. It appears serval workers are doing multiple jobs. 2 of our “servers” had on chef coats. The front desk girl was taking orders, running food, wiping down tables. This restaurant has a lot of potential. Just needs some order. The food was decent and with the wait it came out hot. But they left it in the microwave tooooo long because it was scorching. Smothered chicken was delicious it was smothered in gravy but still had a crunch to it. Mac was eh. Cabbage was yummy. Sweet potatoes was bitter. I personally wouldn’t return when in town but would encourage others to check...
