The food is decent, best if you can dine in because the fries sweat in a to go order.
The service in this last visit was borderline offensive. My family and I entered the store at 8:29 pm placed our order with "Luna B" at 8:31. After I paid I wasn't offered a receipt, so I asked about the number or the receipt. She gave me a receipt. As I walked away I heard her say to another employee "don't worry their order is to go". I turned back to "Luna B" and stated that I wasn't asked if I wanted my order to go. She begin to say that they were closing soon but she studdered when she realized it was only 8:31 pm so she corrected her self and instead said "we close in less than 30 mins so all orders are to go". It was clear that Luna B and her coworker were determined to leave at exactly 9 pm.
I proceeded to wait about 15 minutes for our order, which I got at 8:46 pm. As we walked out my wife said we could eat outside on the patio, but wouldn't you know it; the ceiling fans outside went off right as we walked out the door and the trash cans were covered. Maybe it was a coincidence 🤔 or maybe employees at Huey Magoo's set the hours of operation.
So, after I left I realized a few things: I tipped because I felt like "oh, they will end up cleaning my table"; but I was pushed out. Huey Magoo's closes at 9 pm, not 8:31 pm. Luna B could have led with "hey we are going to close in 30 minutes, would like your order to go?" But I didn't get to make that choice, if I could have made a choice I would have chosen to go nextdoor to Jersey Mike's or maybe not left a tip since they are just doing their job packing the order to go. Did I spend too much time on this review? Why yes, I did but I felt it was totally worth it to point out the selflessness of the whole thing. I'm pretty sure that Huey Magoo pays by the hour for the folks they employ and they expect them to work during their posted operating hours.
There are plenty of other chickens joints where I could drop 60 bucks who take a moment to ask if I wanted my order to go.
The atmosphere will have to remain unreviewed by me since I could not stay and...
Read moreFood is great. I come here a lot because its a mile from my house but I think this time today will he the last. Food doesn't taste as good when you feel like you’re ruining the employees day by walking in. I came in today and the lead server walked away to give someone food so i stood at the counter where the general manager stood there talking to another server with his back to me for almost a full minute. The girl he was talking to was facing me and didn't acknowledge me either. (Couldnt help but overhear they were talking about one of the other employees behind their back which is fun) they waited till the lead server came back behind the counter to finally, and reluctantly, take my order. The general manager stood uncomfortably close directly behind her which would have made me feel strange If I was her, i made a little joke to try and lighten the mood which was met with straight faces. I said thanks when she handed me my cups and got no smile, response, nothing. Got my drinks, sat down and waited for my take our order. When she came and gave it to me i said thabks again have a good day. And she didnt look at me or anything just walked away. Lol. The part that bothered me the most was when I wasn’t acknowledged at the beginning. As a GM, if you see a customer standing there and staff is busy you of all people should step up and take their order. Not blatantly ignore them. I only leave reviews if its a particularly bad or good experience and this place earned one today. Just wanted to give a detailed account of a former loyal customer. Extremely unfortunate. Keep an eye on that GM too (short hispanic fellow) if my daughter worked there and i saw how he was standing behind the her itd be an issue immediately. Very strange and uncomfortable to witness. Its hard to get me to wrote a review which is why you'll see i have only ever left a handful in 10+ years. Hope that lead server cheers up a bit. Nothing worse than feeling like you’re inconveniencing someone by walking into their store. I go there at least once a week....
Read moreI normally always love coming to this location. Never had any issues, staff is always very friendly and the food is always hot and perfect. Tonight was a different story. A friend and I showed up at around 8:10pm, knowing very well they close at 9pm. The staff was obviously annoyed that we showed up 50 minutes before closing. And what was worse was a staff member made a remark with an eyeroll to the crew behind her that “they’re eating here”. Okay? The matts were all rolled up by the refreshments. We decided to eat outside not to bother anyone inside. And around 830pm they started closing up shop and stacking chairs on top of the tables. Meanwhile there was an older couple that came in that also wanted to dine in and once they got their salads, a staff member told them they were closing and offered to get them to go boxes. They looked very confused. Mind you, this was at like 840pm and the staff was quite loud at closing everything down and turning off the lights, making it obvious they wanted us gone. I am extremely disappointed and frankly disgusted at the rush to push us out and the staffs annoyance with coming in when we did when we still had plenty of time to sit and enjoy our food. I’m not one to show up late to restaurants but 50 minutes before closing isn’t so bad, at least not to where you have to wait until after closing for us to leave, which wasn’t the case at all. I was home by 9. It was such an unwelcoming and unprofessional experience and it really made me not want come back at all. We basically didn’t eat half our food because we felt so uncomfortable because basically all the staff members had their eyes on us like hawks waiting for us to leave. They even covered the trash cans outside, so we were forced to leave our trash on the table. I’m extremely unhappy with this experience and I hope something gets done about this so it doesn’t happen to anyone else trying to enjoy a late night dinner after getting off work...
