Island Wing Company Grill & Bar - Jacksonville Bartram Market — Restaurant in Florida

Finally had a chance to try the new Island Wings location. We have been to the Southside location a few times and like it a lot, so we were glad to see one open just around the corner from where we live.

The venue itself definitely gets 5 stars. Plenty of seating, both inside and out, plus there are TVs all over the place so it is a great place to catch a game. The staff is also friendly and overall atmosphere is great.

On this visit my wife ordered the Mahi with veggies and Reggae rice. She said it wasn’t bad at all and would order it again.

I ordered the No Fry Stir Fry with chicken since I have never tried it before. I was a little disappointed with this dish. I didn’t realize that the sauce was going to be spicy, and I’m not a fan of spicy foods. However, it did have really good flavor. The part that was the most disappointing (the spicy part was my fault; I should have read the description better and saw that it said “kicked up” sauce) was that the chicken was extremely dry. It’s almost as if the chicken was prepared earlier in the day and sliced up so that it could he used later. It was just so dry. If you look at my pictures, you can see some of the thinner slices of chicken are almost like a chicken jerky.

Also, our server, while friendly, just wasn’t around much after we received our food. The table next to us that had the same server/waitress got up to ask the staff at the bar where our server was since she was gone so long.

Although this visit was a little disappointing, we will definitely be back. This is the first experience at Island Wings that wasn’t that great, and we have been several other times at other locations and really liked it. Maybe we just caught this location on a bad night, and I’ll stick with the usual menu items that I like and avoid getting the chicken stir fry :)

This evening I had the pleasure of visiting Island Wings in Bartram, and I must say, the Friday night bartending crew deserves all the praise in the world for their extraordinary hustle. From the moment I walked in at 5 pm until closing time, they were non-stop, delivering exceptional service with a smile.

The energy and dedication of the bartending crew were truly commendable. Despite the busy atmosphere, they managed to maintain a high level of efficiency and professionalism. They swiftly took orders, mixed drinks flawlessly, and served every customer with attentiveness and care.

What impressed me the most was their ability to handle the crowd effortlessly. The bar was packed with people, yet they never seemed overwhelmed or stressed. They skillfully managed the flow of customers, ensuring that everyone was attended to in a timely manner.

Not only were they efficient, but the bartending crew also exuded a friendly and welcoming vibe throughout the evening. They engaged in conversations, recommended drinks, and made everyone feel like a valued guest. Their warm and personable approach created a fantastic ambiance, making Island Wings the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a Friday night.

This was the most awful experience I have ever had dining out. I am new to the area and decided to drop in to try the place.. I asked to be seated outside at the bar and was told to sit at a certain high top table. I was ok with it as I was by myself and just venturing out in the area. Moments after getting my food and barely eating it, the waitress comes to tell me that they need my table and that I needed to move. When I asked if I could at least have 15-20 minutes to finish my food, she said I had only 5 minutes! She offered for me to sit with a sweet lady next to me but how awkward did I feel at this moment? Should I sit there when not even being asked by this sweet woman who was waiting on her guests? Talk about feeling insulted and unwanted. 🤦🏼‍♀️ The waitress proceeded to tell the table next to me that she needed my table. I have never felt so insulted. Luckily, the manager did not make me pay for this food that I could not enjoy. Although, they did bring me the check and as if they wanted me to pay. I refused. I mean, I could not even finish it! Then, they brought me a to go plate to put it in but did not bring me any utensils to use to dip it into the plate. I had to use my chips which broke as I tried to dip it and getting it all over my hands. Felt like crying! So embarrassed! The worst customer service ever! I am so appalled. What a way to treat people! Didn’t even want to give one star! Do better Island Wing Company! Treat people better! Believe me, I will be telling everyone that will listen about this experience. My hope is that no one ever be treated this way...
