I strongly recommend Ho Ho China Wok. It is a good value and good food.
My general rule is to give fast food places a maximum of three stars, and I give Ho Ho China Wok a very high three stars.
When I first walked in I could smell the wok. This was a very good sign; remember that your sense of smell is very important to your sense of taste.
I ordered the beef and broccoli and I could taste the wok. Basically when you cook with a wok at temperatures so hot, you can smell a distinct order in the air and taste a distinct flavour in the food. I have been taught that this is a must and should be expected in wok cooking.
The broccoli was cooked to perfection for me. It wasn’t soggy or raw. However, I would like to see more individuality in the sauce recipe.
I have been so disappointed with Asian restaurants in the area. It feels like they think consumers in the area do not know what to expect, so they will offer unauthentic flavours and menus. This area deserves better. (For the kiddos out there; if the restaurant smells like your kitchen after nuking some frozen fast food you got at Costco, it probably isn’t authentic...if it smells worse or greasier, run.)
Most importantly I found the amount of food you get for the price to be “moral”. People are surprised when I tell them that on average, take out restaurants meals for two are about $10-$20 more here than Chicago or you get a lot less food here for the same price in Chicago. (Maybe that is why Chicagoans are fat...at least that is what looking in the mirror tells me.lol)
I was happy to find Ho Ho China Wok. I strongly suggest trying anything...
Read moreThis is now our favorite Chinese food takeout and just perfect during this Lent season as we don't eat meat on Fridays.
We always visit this place on a Thursday to buy for dinner and food for Friday. Our staple dish to go are the following:
Shrimp Mein Fun - similar to Filipino Pancit without the calamansi, but I would still add something sour lol. Huge portion with lots of shrimps! Delicious!
Shrimp Lo Mein - The Noodles itself packs a lot of flavor yet simple dish! Yummy!
Wings with Fried Rice - Wings are very crispy and tasty and the fried rice is one of the best I have ever tried! It's the real deal! Authentic Chinese!
We have also ordered other dishes such as:
Singapore Mei Fun - The curry flavor was great but the noodles are very dry. Still good though.
Mongolian Beef - One of their dinner specials, I like it because it has a lot of vegetables, but my husband said it has more onions than beef lol. He is a meat person:)
Shrimp Chow Mein - This is a vegetable meal with protein. A little bit saucy but I liked it! Similar to Chopsuey sans the liver.
There are still a lot of choices in their menu that we have not tried but I highly recommend this place, Great affordable food and...
Read moreSome of the best chinese food I've ordered in a long time. Im always craving the Chinese sit-down restaurants in NJ. I miss the crunchy wonton chips you would get as "complimentary bread." These restaurants, as far as I know, do not exist in North florida. We ordered online delivery. Soooo, the reason for the 3-star service is that we spent $44 and then $15 in tip, delivery fee, and service fee. I never understand if the other two fees go to the driver, so I always tip 15%, but I hate feeling I've been duped out of an additional $8 because of other fees? Anyway back to the food... FANTASTIC! We ordered 2 pork egg rolls (perfectly crisp and great flavor dipped in the amazing thick sweet and sour sauce), crispy cream cheese wonton dupped in uet again the yummy sweet and sour sauce, sweet and sour chicken again perfectly crisp, and again their sweet and sour dip is delicious, chicken lo mein and pork fried rice had great wok fire flavor. This again was just a really great take out chinese restaurant meal that I haven't had in a super long time. I'm not sure if this place is hit or miss, but whomever they have cooking on Saturday evenings, koodus to you, and thank you for...
