EDIT: Alright Jeni... I'm a man of my word... This used to be a 2-star review but has been upgraded to a 5-star. The ice cream is really great but the big issue was the order of operation it took to get the ice cream. As explained in the original review (still available below), I said that I would be back to see if things improved to give the opportunity to change from my 2-star down to a 1-star or up to 5-star. I don't know if after reading all of these reviews if the voice of the customer's opinion is what changed their mind or not, or if the business just sat down and crunched the numbers finally, but they deserve every star. Good work!
ORIGINAL REVIEW (2-STAR): Nightmare fuel - Before getting really into it, I want to start off with saying I will be (unfortunately) coming back for the ice cream because it really is good ice cream. Next, I take the pandemic pretty seriously. I understand that this business was dealt a bad hand because they only have one entrance and the space is limited, so I'm trying to go easy on them... but that's also why I consider the management to be completely irresponsible. If you are looking to go here during COVID, be warned - this is a place to steer clear from if you are at risk. As soon as you come in the door, you want to go look at the ice cream before choosing your scoop because this is how every single ice cream shop you've ever seen does it. However, they do not do that here. They expect everyone to come in and go to the cash register first, choose your ice cream without browsing and then see what you missed out on as you pick up your ice cream that now tastes just like buyer's remorse (knew I should have gotten Brambleberry Crunch). What was worse is that people coming into the shop kept getting in my way to my ice cream to browse before buying, and I really can't blame them. So why would they do this? Is it because the distance from the door to the cashier is shorter? Well no, it's the same distance either direction! I wasn't even planning on writing this review, but I've lost sleep over this place! It's the first review I've ever posted... It's just a non-problem. There is so much confusion that it almost forces people to break social distancing. It could just be solved if the direction was reversed. I don't think the management reads these reviews because I'm not the only one complaining about the distance, but I really hope I'm wrong. Every time I come back here, I'm going to have to be really cautious because of how irresponsible the management is being. Whether they choose to believe in the pandemic or not, they should be professional and considerate of all their patrons.
This would get 1 star, but it was good ice cream. Also, I'd like to see this place get better reviews. If they reconsider the direction and flow to be more COVID friendly, I'll gladly change my review. It's just a shame... I pass by this place often and every time I look through the glass you can see customers (especially kids) going the wrong direction. I always point it out to whoever I'm with, because the staff constantly has to tell people to go the other direction... which makes me wonder how they could not have considered changing directions before? I would almost understand if it was all about hiding a lesser quality product, but there's nothing wrong with it. Is it a pride thing maybe? Is Jeni some egotistical monster that would rather see people get sick than admit the choice of direction is wrong, even though it must be pointed out to customers regularly? This is what I'm talking about! I can't stop thinking about it and I'm losing sleep over it. It's completely bonkers. It starts off as a dream, you know, the fresh waffle cones smell and taste so good, the ice cream and then it just gets dark. We'll see... it's 2 stars now, maybe it'll go up, probably go down... But again, it doesn't matter how bad the reviews are if the product is good enough. Maybe I can't go as often as I would really like to, but I'll manage to get a scoop once in...
Read moreIce cream is pretty good, but the system of purchase and service in that place makes no sense. First you’re jockeyed to the cashier in the back. You have to order there first before even seeing the ice cream. They may point at their sign of ice cream flavors and say “you can see the pictures of the ice cream here”. The sign in question shows some stock photos of about 60% of the flavors. Well, what about the other 40%? Can I not just walk five feet over and see? Nope, they’ll scold you for not being socially distant and to move back yet there’s NOBODY STANDING THERE (I’m wearing a mask as well). What scoop shop doesn’t let you see the ice cream before purchase? This is an easy solve and I don’t know why they don’t do it. Just have the line enter TOWARDS the flavors first, THEN at the end is the cashier where you could get your ice cream and you can pay. See the ice cream first and pay at the end you say?Yeah...
Read moreI received such terrible service when I went to visit this place by one of the staff member who claimed she is the owner. One of my order was a Trio for my daughter which I always order when I go there. I can only eat a little bit of ice cream so my daughter will have the 2 scoop and I will get the third one. I then asked for an xtra paper cup to put the third scoop. I never had an issue in the past, when I get to the cashier she overcharged me, she charged me the whole price for my one scoop of ice cream that was part of the Trio. She said that it is not possible to do what I just did, that is to transfer the one scoop to a paper container and it can't be done so she must charge me the whole price for it. She then said that if I returned the one scoop into my daughter's ice cream cone and give her the paper cup, then she won't over charge me. She let me returned the one scoop and then she THREW away...
