Horrible place. Called ahead to place an order for pickup, but when I arrived, I had to wait 30 minutes for my food to be ready. The employees were a mess, disorganized, and rude. A couple of people waited in line to order at the bar, even they were visibly frustrated at what a mess it all was. Many of them were heard complaining. When my food was finally ready, and I cut into my Carne Asada, I see that it is undercooked. The rice was mushy and soft as well, also undercooked. Horrible. It took so long to get the food and still it wasn’t even properly cooked. Why is it that I called ahead for a takeout order just to have to wait the same amount of time as everyone else ordering in person? Makes no sense. Why did we wait 30+ mins for the food and somehow it was still undercooked? Crazy. If I could give 0 stars, I would because the staff being incredibly rude to everyone waiting just topped it all off.

I love the carƱe asada here it's fire ,the food is real good.. perfect for my steak and I eat eggs at home diet ,the meat is so juicy and full of flavor ,this has become one of my favorite spots to eat meat, the rice is also good , I have not tried everything yet but so far everything taste real good ...I love the meat heat it's made medium well, perfect , for those who complain about undercook meat , beef is the only meat u can eat raw and not get sick that's why u get to pick how u want your steak cooked ,I like it no blood ,pink but full of flavor ,I don't like hockey pucks so I'm glad they make it the way they do as long as it's not bloody its perfect!!!

Friday at about 1pm looking for lunch. This restaurant is in a strip center with Publix, Bank of America & a lot of shops, plenty of parking. It's Nicaraguan focused but is similar to other central American cuisines. They have a large steam table to make your selection. Plenty of tables but no waitress service. I went for a pork leg stew with yucca & black beans. Large portion, tender in a very nice savory sauce. For $10.99 a very good deal! Place was clean with prompt service from the ladies serving the steam table!

I have been going to La Hormiga de Oro for twenty years, and this past Saturday was the first time I have ever encountered a bad experience. Let’s start with the server. I was waiting in line behind someone else who was already being helped, and the other server said NEXT person, so i stood up telling her what i wanted. Two carne asadas con todo, her co worker found it funny and started laughing, then they both started chitchatting knowing there was a huge line. I waited until they both finished chitchatting. So then I said again, can I please have 2 carne asadas con todo , which is platano maduro ,gallo pinto ,queso frito and carne asada in case she didn’t hear me. She then said con que ? Like shes being dumb. My finace said carne asada. I didnt say anything else I just moved over for somebody else to take the next person. As i moved over she then asked my fiance con que ensalada, i responded ā€œ La ensalada que viene con la carne asadaā€. She then rolled her eyes. I had to move away because I didn’t want to be disrespectful but when i went to pay. I was very honest with the guy taking in the payments. I said to him, Que tremendo customer service tienen aqui. He proceeded to smile and tell me they were Colombians. I really don’t care what country they’re from, but if you’re going to have people that dont know the Nicaraguan dish then you need to hire Nicaraguans that know the food. Lets not even talk about the rudeness because she wasn’t only rude to me but also to the man who was in line in front of me. He just didn’t say anything to the person who was attending him but she was rude to him. I saw it with my own eyes. The servers should be attentive and not rude with the customers..We the customers are paying you all for that as well. Its a shame a place that you have been too have these type of workers...

I’ve gone multiple times to La Hormiga De Oro- Miami Lakes and the OWNER SISTER does not change her attitude towards the customers . She’s an older blonde lady who wears an extensive amount of make up. There are multiple reviews by other customers who have complained by her so I know I’m not the only one who has dealt with this person. The times I have been attended by her she has a nasty attitude. She makes it seem like she is giving you the food for free and treats people like dogs, she rushes you when you’re ordering and screams at the poor workers constantly. I don’t want to imagine how she treats the employees, I am pretty sure they are fed up with her mistreatment. I had to tell her that she needs to treat people like humans and needs to provide better customer service and she began to yell at me right in front of the owner husband and told me that that’s the way she is. Being the OWNER SISTER she should be embarrassed. The owner husband was next to her, hopefully he spoke to her about her way of being. The only reason I go to this fritanga is because of the distance. The food is not even good nothing compared to CAƑA BRAVA or EL MONIMBO they treat you better and way better...

Understand, you're going to a Fritanga. The original fast casual, lo g before Chipotle. You wait in line, point out what you want from the buffet, pay, and then sit and eat or carryout. As far as fritangas go, the food was awesome. For me ropa vieja, queso frito y maduros. All as good as they come. Especially the queso.

Portions were also huge, and fresh food came out of the kitchen regularly. My only critique of the food was that the coleslaw was too fresh and needed to soak in the sauce longer. Too crunchy for my taste.

Staff was also very pleasant (not a standard everywhere). Place was clean, booths were nice, not noisy, and the bathroom was the nicest I've ever seen in a fritanga and as good as any national fast casual Chain.

The only reason. That I can't give it 5 stars is service is definitely on Latin time. Line backed up to the door, but no urgency. Stood in line for over well over 10 minutes before being served, and I got I before it backed up.

But if you have a liesurely pace or can go off of peak times,...
