TLDR: excellent service and atmosphere, very accommodating for the kids. My grandma accidentally left her phone there over New Year’s Eve, and they were very helpful about getting it back to her. The food is decent, but I felt that maybe it was a bit pricey for the fare- however I’m not from this area, so it could be comparable to other PR food- if that’s the case, feel free to ignore my opinion!
I ordered a JUGOS NATURALES/NATURAL JUICES- passion fruit juice to start. It was very tasty but VERY sweet, so if you’re ok with sugar, you’ll love it!
Someone at the table ordered a YUENGLING beer as well. It was cold and as expected (which is good).
Two of us ordered pasteles- there were only two left!! (We felt lucky) 🍀. One of them was cooked well- firm and tasty, the other… not so much. Mushy and bland, according to my PR grandmother… I know it’s a whole process to make them, and they were down to the last two, so we’ll have to assume they’re normally as good as the firm and tasty one we got.
I ordered the Mofongo/shrimp with maduros and salad, which was pretty tasty, but I’m a pescatarian- for health reasons I have an issue with meat, especially pork. For whatever reason I didn’t ask, and incorrectly assumed that the regular mofongo would not contain pork, but it does, which I found out after one bite, so I gave my mofongo away, but my family didn’t like it.
One of us ordered the grilled chicken stuffed mofongo but didn’t really love it- it was very dry. The server was very nice and brought some sauce on the side, which greatly improved the dish. Hooray Mariam! (For real, she was the best part of our visit 🥰).
Since I gave away the part of my meal that I expected to fill my up, I was still hungry and ordered a piece of the tres leches cake and it MADE MY EVERY DREAM COME TRUE!! 🪄 ✨ 💕 It was seriously delicious!
Overall, I’d say this isn’t the place for vegetarians or pescatarians, or for picky eaters, but the atmosphere and service are top notch! If you like Latin food, I’d recommend it, but maybe come...
Read moreI am Puerto Rican and we brought Puerto Rican and Cuban friends. We were pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality of our dishes, very savory and authentic! We were all very impressed by the chef's skills and happy to know we finally have a true Latin place in our area! However we were very sad to see that the entire place was empty at 6pm on Sunday night. We stayed chatting until it closed, and in 2 hours only one other table was served. Although the food was delicious, we would have appreciated better decor/atmosphere, warmth and latin cultural charm to go along with the quality of the dishes we were served. We wonder if perhaps this is why more people dont eat here. When you drive by, it is in a strip mall, and you can see the interior is very stripped down with no window treatments, or wall decor, and little atmosphere to demonstate a welcoming place to sit down and enjoy dinner, similar to a Chinese take out, with just tables and chairs, simple booths with wooden backs, no cushions for your back. Although our server was cheerful and appreciative, there is very little in the way of "atmosphere" here, so we were expecting $10-$15 dishes, but some more complicated to prepare dishes such as seafood mofongo and fried snapper, are over $25 dollars, and rightfully so, they are fabulous! (Perhaps they are just starting out and arent finished decorating?) Though the dishes are definitely worth the prices, perhaps next time we will order and take home to enjoy. Please support this wonderful place and help put this establishment on the map! There are no Latin places, except Mexican food in our area . This place is definitely worth a visit. Step out of your comfort zone from the Italian/Mexican/Chinese/ eateries and expand your palates. Try Puerto Rican and Cuban food, it is really delicious. Latin Flavors restaurant is doing it right and deserves...
Read moreI would not recommend this restaurant. My husband left a low review and as with all thee other low reviews the "Owners" reaction's were rude and unempathetic. They just respond back with "food is expensive" insinuating that customers are just being cheap or something! Yes, "Owners" we are aware of how expensive some food can be and we also pay those prices at other establishments. However, the difference between your restaurant and the others, is that the others are giving great service, delicious food and the right portions. Instead of trying to argue with someone for sharing their experience at your restaurant, you should try to learn how to use these as opportunities to do better! Maybe start by reviewing your surrounding restaurants for portion suggestions and provide better training for your servers, (male with the nice eyebrows). Also, maybe printing an itemized receipt so that customers can know how they are getting charged, instead of your servers flashing an iPad screen and giving rude reminders such as, "make sure you don't forget to tip" to paying customers ! SMH! No one needs to be to be reminded to tip, especially after spending $70 for over priced, small portioned bland food with poor customer service! And yes, I we still tipped after that entire experience but will not...
