We have been supporting Los Mariachi's Mexican Restaurant since they opened. We highly recommended them many times. Recently, we have not been all that happy when going to their Port Charlotte location. Usually, we order the Table Side Guacamole, then enjoy some chips and salsa, plus ordering our food. They have raised their prices, as most restaurants have, and that is fine, we understand that. We want the businesses to do well. The last two times we have been there I, have been very disappointed in them. First, because after all the chips/ Salsa and Table side Guacamole, we/I can't order a full meal. That is just too much food. So, I ordered 2 Spinach and cheese Enchiladas for the rest of my meal. They had already raised prices, but informed me that I would be charged an extra $2.00 because I only ordered the 2 enchiladas. Not that much money but the principle of the thing. So, I thought OK, if that helps them stay in business, no worries. No extra charge for my Husband, Bob. The last time we were there, I ordered the Vegetarian Taco Salad, which is usually very good. Then, I was told, it would be an extra $2.00 if I wanted cheese on it. There had always been cheese on it before. So, again, I said OK. When I got my Veggie Taco salad, it was also supposed to have certain veggies in it, namely, broccoli, and cauliflower. It had always had it in it before. So, the only broccoli I saw was about 4 small pieces of the stalk with tiny, and I do mean tiny, sprouts on it. There was NO sign of the Cauliflower at all. There was about 7 slices of either canned or frozen carrots, you can tell by the texture, some onions and a few pieces of green pepper. Of course the base was of beans, since it was vegetarian. On top was pretty much the usual lettuce and about 8 pieces of grated cheese. (for the extra $2.00). Don't misunderstand, I don't mind the extra cost, but since they had already raised the price to something like $14.69, as best I can remember, I felt they could have raised it a little more instead of waiting until I ordered to demand more money. I found that, they also skimped on my veggies, as well. No extra price was demanded for Bob's order. Therefore, we will be frequenting other restaurants for a while, until they get their prices correct. I didn't appreciate the skimping on the vegetables while I was paying their higher prices plus the extra $2.00 for the minimal amount of cheese I received. Everything I ordered BEFORE all this, was great. Bob's orders were like they usually were when ordered, most of the time included mostly shrimp. I just don't understand, nor appreciate verbally adding cost on after I ordered. We will give them some time before we go back again. We did have a superb lunch out today, at Plaza Mexico. They have an excellent vegetarian menu. I have a LOT to choose from, on their menu, with no skimping or added prices after ordering. I debated about writing this, but finally decided they needed to know how I felt when that happened to me. It was kind of embarrassing, to be honest.eat food, beautiful inside, and...

high hopes and a major disappointment.
Cons: -no backround music -no food deals -Ordered 3 piece combo dinner (menu price 13.99, charged 14.99) -Ordered 1 cheese chilli releno (Got beef) -Ordered 1 chicken 1 beef burrito (Got 2 chicken)
-They were on happy hour, we asked the waitress the price of two medium margaritas she said around 4 dollars so we got two sets ( we got charged two jumbos (24$) and the waitress said jumbo is same size glass as medium after being billed! Why not say available sizes are small or jumbo then)
So after two wrong orders, wrong price written on the menu, and wrong drink sizes, the manager Kef provided a 15 dollar discount which he says was an error and provided a new receipt with 10$ added and instead we only got a 5$ dollar discount receipt now, this establishment is a scam. Manager Kef was very unprofessional and rude and stormed away to stand at the bar, instead of listening to the issue
Pros- -great decor (clearly the owner invested money into the design and furniture ) -the food was good when you finally got your order right -waitress was nice even though everything went wrong, she tried.
I feel bad for the owner, this place could be so much better, its always slow because they are losing the locals due to these easily fixed problems. Manager Kef also said the mis typed price will be adjusted in menu asap. Will follow up to make sure to see if this company further wrongly charges people with predatory pricing practices.
A disappointing experience for a first visit to a local restaurant. Watch your receipts at this...
Read more1st visit here, but my wife and I have been to the Los Mariachis several times in Rotonda West. The first thing we ordered was the table-side guacamole mostly because the house guacamole at the other location has had way too much salt, and when we have gotten it made at our table we can say NO SALT so that we can put our own amount (very little) on it after it's made. The lady making it didn't ask us what we wanted in it and almost immediately grabbed the salt shaker just before I stopped her and said "no salt!". It was also made with a lot of cilantro which we happen to like, but I know that a lot of people do NOT like it because it tastes like soap to them, so why didn't she at least ask about that? So... be warned... you need to say up front if there's anything you don't want in it. And, since it was a Saturday, there were no 2-for-1 margaritas (understandable). But, we saw another table with the large ones and I asked how much they were. The waiter had to go to the bar to ask, and they are $19. $38 for drinks before even ordering food was quite expensive for us, but we decided on getting mediums. Still quite expensive, though. We're going to have to start looking around for more reasonably-priced Mexican restaurants. Spent over $80 here for the evening. Everything tasted very good, but the price of things add up very...
