I have Never written a review good or bad on anyone but I just couldnāt refuse it this time! I had just finished eating at waffle house which is in this same parking lot when I came out I smelled the smoke from the pit which i immediately said it smells good so I decided to grab a plate that I would eat later for dinner I am a OTR truck driver and you can quickly get burned out on the truck stop usuals so I took the opportunity to grab something different while I could when I first approached the window they place wasnāt open yet and I waited 45 minutes until 11 am to purchase my food before I hit the road because the smoke had me invested in tasting it I spent $45 dollars including the tip on a 2 meat plate that came with 2 sides which I thought was a bit pricey but I was ok with it being that itās a small business so I understand the cashier was polite service was fairly quick and I was the first customer of the day I got my food and I left hoping that everything tasted as good as it smelled now ironically about 5 minutes into my drive into the load I had just been dispatched on it was cancelled so I parked and while I waited for new instructions I decided to try my food and I was pretty upset when I bit into the ribs because the meat was dry and I know food I could tell I had been served Ribs that had to be from the day before there was no way that RIB had been cooked on today and it made me so upset because the flavor was there and I could tell had it been fresh I would have been extremely satisfied also I want sat the sausage was bad Iāll just say i didnāt care for it I just felt that it was just bad to charge that price and serve some one meat from the day before I understand some days are tuff in business but thatās definitely not a good business practice and here are the pictures to prove my claims because i donāt want anyone thinking Iām just making this up to hurt someoneās business because I would definitely not do that I just didnāt appreciate the meat being old when I paid a high price and left a tip for a take out order! I will gladly drive 1.5 hours to eat here. We got ribs, fish, and brisket with mac n cheese and greens. Baby, that mac n cheese was cheesy and seasoned. Thank you Jesus! The greens....well...let's just say, they were gone before I could move on to anything else. The brisket was juicy and tender and seasoned just right. My mouth was watering with every bite. My husband loved the ribs. The fish...oh baby the fish melt in ya mouth like butter on a hot roll. I believe that if smoked meat comes sauced itās because youāre hiding something, whether that itās dry meat youāre trying to rehydrate or trying to add flavor from not smoking long enough. At $17 for pork and two sides, I expected more by way of quality. The chicken tasted good, but didnāt taste smoked at all. Maybe itās not supposed to be smoke chicken and I am assuming here but it was a light brown/gold color not bronze like smoked chicken should be. It almost seem like it was propane grilled. It was also lacking that faint smoke ring chicken gets.
Positives, the staff is very friendly. The sides were very hot and fresh to order. They were still too hot to eat after a 10 minute drive which is great since everyone hates cold food when they get home. I wouldnāt recommend dining here as there is no shade or working fans.
