Yesterday, I had the unfortunate displeasure of eating at Madison's for the first time. There were four of us, and we started by ordering waters with lots of lemons, and two of us also ordered coffee. At first, it seemed ok - the server was friendly, he brought out the drinks quickly, and was able to answer questions I had regarding the menu. The the food came out very fast, and all four of us were satisfied with our meals.
We didn't get quite enough lemons for all of us, so I asked for more. I noticed the owner/manager eyeing our table prior to our server bringing us the additional lemons, but I didn't think anything of it at the time. After all, there were four of us drinking water with lemons, and two of us got our glasses refilled.
Then we got our bills, one for each couple. Each of us had been charged $0.99 for LEMON SLICES! I called our server over and told him we had issues with being charged for lemons, and would like to speak to the manager.
And then it got ugly. The owner came over and, when we disputed the charges, he raised his voice and said (as closely as I can recall),
"We gave you 18 slices of lemons! That's THREE lemons! Lemons are 3 for $1, and then I have to pay someone to wash them and slice them for you!"
I told him he should be ashamed of himself conducting his business this way. He could have had repeat business if he had simply chosen to drop the lemon charges, but instead he chose to single us out and make a scene, displaying his rude behavior to the entire restaurant, most likely making everyone uncomfortable, not just the four of us.
In the end, if you do the math, 18 lemons slices divided by six glasses of water is 3 slices of lemon per glass - a seemingly moderate amount. Considering we also purchased two cups of coffee and four meals, you would think this would have been no cause for concern to a business owner - but clearly he would rather lose business...
Read moreExcellent Service & Good Affordable Food The service here was excellent and the place is very clean and updated. Our food was out lighting fast. (5-7 min. after we ordered) I love that you can get breakfast or lunch and there is something for everyone. We ordered and everyone got a small bowl of homemade coleslaw with a dill spear on top. What a nice treat! The Reuben had a good amount of thinly sliced corned beef. The fish and chips was a very large Cod fillet and the Monte Cristo was amazing. I was a bit disappointed with the gyro, which is my own fault because you don't order Greek food when you're not a Greek restaurant. They had several Greek items on the menu so I thought that it would be authentic. The pita and sauce were perfect but it was a bit light on the meat and I could tell that the meat was not shaved off of the lamb spindle. The meat pieces were all the same size and equally thinly sliced. It reminded me of strips of turkey bacon only lamb. The fries could have been cooked about 1 more minute in the fryer. Overall, excellent place for lunch or breakfast. I can't wait to try some of the breakfast items. We...
Read moreI’m never coming back here again. Brought my father here for father’s day, today. I get restaurants like this get busy because it’s very cute and i’ve been here before and I loved it. We got our food, Lisa, our waitress, she took my dads plate while we were all done eating and asked if i wanted a box. 10 minutes go by. She asks again if i wanted a box and took everyone else’s plates. 30 minutes later! I see Lisa caring more about her new tables, taking orders and talking to them, and acted like we were nothing. we’ve been done eating for 40-45 minutes at this point. went up front and asked for the bill and a box. and Lisa says “so I heard you were waiting for 20 minutes for your check? real smart of you”, complained to the guy again saying that was rude of her, and he said ‘ Okay? I don’t know what to do about that.” and shook his hands up in the air. And LISA comes back to table, “ look now you guys got me in trouble” Let’s just say, I’m never going back again, that service was unnecessary. I’ve worked in restaurants all my life, you don’t treat paying customers...
