Mi Tierra Dominican Restaurant offers a mixed experience, combining a beautiful atmosphere with less impressive culinary elements. Here’s a detailed review based on my visit:
The restaurant boasts a beautiful and inviting atmosphere. The décor is light tropical, incorporating sleek wood elements that reflect the rich culture of the Dominican Republic. The environment is clean and well-maintained, contributing to a pleasant dining experience. The background bachata music adds a delightful touch, enhancing the overall ambiance and making diners feel welcome to the culture. This aspect of the restaurant earns a solid 5 stars.
Unfortunately, the food does not match the excellence of the atmosphere. The vegetables served were clearly from a frozen package, steamed to a soggy state reminiscent of the ones available at Publix. The carrots, as seen in the video, were overly flexible and lacked freshness. The mofongo, a staple dish, was disappointingly dry and would have benefited from a bit of sancochó juice on the side for dipping, as is traditionally served at many restaurants in the Dominican Republic.
The garlic sauce accompanying the mofongo had an off-putting gum-like consistency, suggesting it was not made with fresh garlic. Given the use of frozen vegetables, it’s unlikely the garlic sauce was made in-house, further diminishing the culinary experience. Overall, the food quality merits 3 stars (the juices are very high in sugar).
The service at Mi Tierra Dominican Restaurant is commendable, however. The staff are kind, efficient, and eager to assist. When faced with questions they couldn’t immediately answer, they took the initiative to find the information, showing a commitment to customer satisfaction. This level of service deserves 5 stars.
While Mi Tierra Dominican Restaurant excels in atmosphere and service, the food quality is a significant drawback. If the restaurant could improve the freshness and preparation of its dishes, it would become a standout dining destination. As it stands, the food gets 3 stars, but the overall experience, buoyed by the excellent atmosphere and service, averages out to about 4 stars.
Summary: Atmosphere: 5 stars Food: 3 stars Service: 5 stars Overall: 4 stars
Mi Tierra Dominican Restaurant is worth visiting for its charming ambiance and excellent service, but diners should temper their expectations regarding the food quality. Have a visit and let us know...
Read moreA loyal customer from the food truck days of brickell. damn shame what it has become in terms of operations. Your front of the house ops are a disaster. A group of people came in and just sat down and your host didn’t have the guts to tell them that they needed to wait. So essentially she let people cut in front a of an already 1hr wait and acted like we didn’t notice. My 5 month pregnant wife became irate and was met with zero empathy and zero accountability im honestly kind of at a loss for words because my loyalty to the heart of the company. Just really really sucks.
Response to owners response:
No assumptions were made. I prefer dealing in facts:
Fact1. Food and waiter service are always amazing & was amazing tonight. 5 star
Fact 2: I actually respect the fact that you are defending your employee.
Fact 3: the host was extremely inept at controlling the situation. Texting the bartender that was serving us back and forth and making weird faces was extremely unprofessional.
Fact 4: If you have 1 party in front of you, your application says 20-40 minutes as ours did(its in black and white, your system providing the details)
Fact 5: when my wife went off after she was met with zero empathy. You threw in there that the host mentioned it was a 1hr wait (when she didn’t and went by the system saying 40min) but how cant that be when you went to my wife as you did not know of the situation at hand.
So either you are lying about not knowing what happened or you knew and played stupid.
Fact 6: A simple sorry would of fixed it all and it never would of escalated it at all. Doubling down was not a good choice especially at a pregnant person.
Fact 8: left our server 30% for amazing service. Thank you again!
Opinion:
Its all love. hopefully you treat the next person with empathy and respect.

Read moreI will start with this I arrived around 6:30pm promptly was treated and put on the wait list host told me 1 hr Maybe 30 min later I got 2 separate text message one the table was ready and second one I have been put off the wait list Upon talking again to the host she told me there was nothing we could do but put me on the list again waited another 20 min I was seated and another 15 min pass when the waitress show and brought the menu to scan Me and the wife selected from the menu and order
Food was brought to the table presentation was very nice We order the taco empanada: in my opinion this should be offer as mini empanadas and at least one of each u less customer order other wise they where really good you can tell the meat used was good quality and the sauces where on point so was the pico de gallo but not worth the $15 we paid for The mofongo: this plate was serve with a bed of garlic butter lightly melted (coagulated) the chicharrón was very chewy not crackling like it should was also dry (typically this plate is serve with some kind of consomé) not here. The chicken and queso frito was really good but should also be serve with some kind of sauce I don’t know like a Chinola or tamarind sauce.but also not worth the $25 paid for
Overall the place has a very good vibe and well decorated really tasteful I think is over price for what was offer and should work on the customer service part The waitress was attentive but she looked overwhelmed I will try another day maybe the brunch and the diner menu didn’t do much on the typical Dominican food I will say is more a Dominican fusion place for someone that have never been expose to Dominican authentic food If you took the time in reading this review thank you I try to be as honest and...
