(OG review of 2019 before the pandemic 5 â)
Great place for family dinner. As an Asian, me and my family are always in search of a place to go without getting bored. This is one of those place. Great food for its price. My aunt and uncle actually own a Chinese restaurant. My family and I still go to the Silver Palace way more than my aunt's place of business. Ask to see the Chinese menu. You go to a Chinese restaurant for Chinese food right? Then order from the Chinese menu. It's been translated it into English. I can't say enough good things about them. We've been coming here for over 10 years. I can only remember one bad dinner in those years. It wasn't even bad. It was OK.
TODAY'S review as of 2/13/2022 We ordered 5 entrees. Costed me $71.77 Two of them were American style Chinese food. The other three were authentic Chinese food. The roast duck were the only one that has some taste. Me and my wife called to complain, the person answer the complaint was of no help. "I'll let the owners know about it" I had to tell her that I am giving them constructive criticism. It is to their benefit to fix those mistakes. Otherwise you will lose more business. Even though I'm not looking for any kind of compensation. I am keeping the OG review know that they not always this bad. I don't know when I'll be back to this...
Read moreI recently ordered takeout from Silver Palace Restaurant off Miller Drive and 137th Avenue, and I regret trusting the recommendation to try this place. It was one of the worst takeout experiences Iâve ever had.
I ordered a quart of the special fried rice, expecting something decent, but what I got was disappointing and downright inedible. The rice was stale, and despite waiting 25-30 minutes for my order, it was clear the food was far from fresh. The quart only had two shrimp, and the typical extras like noodles, ham, chicken, and pork were almost nonexistent. The bits of meat that were included were dry, flavorless, and seemed like they were cooked separately and haphazardly tossed into the rice. On top of that, there was no egg added to the rice, which is a staple in any good fried rice.
I also ordered plantains, which were just as bad. They tasted like theyâd been fried in old, reused oil, making them hard to eat. Back in the day, at other restaurants, a quart of special fried rice would come loaded with all the goodies on top, making it a real treat to dig in. At Silver Palace, I opened the container to find just stale rice with nothing...
Read morePlease take this review with a grain of salt if you are a local, but I did not like this place one bit. Our host order well in advanced that day to let them know what we would like to eat. It took over 1.5 hours for the food to come out. You always hear the age old adage that asian restaurants have terrible service, but the food is great. This is not the place. It has terrible service and terrible food. Very bland and no flavor. I actually wanted to start to write this review even before the food came out. This was due to the service. How can you ask if wanted something to drink and then walk away after the first drink order request. After that the drink doesn't even come out. Too frustrated to even describe their food. Upset that we drove miles for this place. Upset the food took too long to get out and had to feed my 2 yr. old their crispy noodle they put out as a snack. Mad that we wasted our money. This might be a local favorite and more power to them , but if you are a tourist and looking for Cantonese food, DO NOT GO HERE. Spend your...
