Pasapoga Restaurant — Restaurant in Florida

So we decided to try this place for the first time...it's a Cuban restaurant in our area. Ordered some staples, as those are usually consistent with the flavor and quality. However, we were extremely disappointed. My wife's chicken ropa vieja was more like a shredded piece of grilled chicken that they never bothered putting through the frying-pan again after shredding it...on top of the fact it looked and tasted like cardboard, it also had chicken bones in it.

My beef milanesa was extremely pricey at about $25... Even though I've never paid more than $18 for this dish. The flavor was fine, but I've had better and for less money. What bothered me about it is that even though they charge more than anyone for this dish, they could not bother to spend the extra $0.25 and give the steak its own box in order to lay it out straight and nice. They just folded it in half and slapped it on top of the rice and plantains.

The best part is that when we called to get our money back they claimed that they cannot do anything about that and that we have to go through the delivery company. Ok..I can understand that... So my wife returned to the restaurant to return her chicken dish for a properly cooked one, or a different dish altogether... To which the manager declined. So, aside from pricey, subpar food, it seems their guest retention efforts and guest services are horrendous. Thank you for ruining our dinner...

I came craving Cuban Ox-tail (Rabo encendido) & an avocado side...

Cuban frita burger is more bread than frita. The frita was the size of un Tostón de platano. Then again it was only $3.25. I couldn't eat the whole bread.

The Emperador sandwich which is a ham, cantinpalo chorizo and manchego cheese. Instead came out with like left over bunches of scraps of prochuto overly greased up salami and a slice of the manchego cheese. The bread was stiff and dried in several spots. Again couldn't eat the bread after one bite.

Perhaps they should remove the Emperador sandwich from the menu and go BIG with the Frita patty. I would pay $7.00 for it instead. It had good flavor.

I ordered a pan con bistec... (they redeemed themselves) however again bread crazy dry. The bread can either make or break you it seems lol. Sucks it could have been saved with some gravy from the steak.

I would likely come again but perhaps not at 10:30p.m on a Tuesday. Also I would never ordered any of the sandwiches again here. To think I came here looking for Cuban Ox-tail dish and some avocado salad on the side.

They do not serve ox-tail at all (no week days nor weekends) aka rabo encendido is non existen in a Cuban restaurant. SHOCKING!!!!

As for avocado's I was informed they don't have any fresh and ready in-stock.

Seems like this is a trend. I've been coming for years due to its great food and service. Last night I went to eat for the first time in over a year since I had moved far away. I don't normally post too much but I had to warn people. I order a cheese burger, fries and there awesome yellow root soap puree. The soup was great but the burger was the size of a McDonalds cheeseburger and the meat was tough and gummy. My home made burgers blow it away. The fries were a tiny greasy mess glistening by the new interior lights of the place as well as the over priced new menus. Yes I was disappointed but didn't say nothing. The menu was inaccurate on its description too. They must have hired one of those college kids working for companies that swear they can help make the business more money by adjusting prices and ingrediencies. Change is good and needed but it must be done carefully and with right intensions for the right results. Unfortunately I will not be going back. Sorry!

UPDATE: I may end up there again since my daughter lives close and loves the soup. I will let management know if there is anything wrong this time and not just ignore it since they have responded to this review. I suggest they take actions because bad reviews may be few but those that do not review and never return are large. Go back to what worked because I was advised it's the same owners...
