When we very first walked in, we were taken to a table inside. I immediately started having an allergic reaction. I am extremely allergic to bleach. I started coughing and looked right at my boyfriend and he already knew (without me even speaking) and he said to me out loud "I can smell it too". . I told the host I was super sorry and I didn't mind waiting at the front but I needed an outside table preferably not in the doorway because I could still smell it outside.
After being set we sat at our table for about 15 minutes without menus. We hear the hostess screaming to text me right now. And I had to tell her I was right there sitting at a table and then I received two texts letting me know my table was ready.
The server stopped by and told us he'd be with us in a minute. And then he also asked if we would like to order any drinks or anything and I had to tell him, we do not have menus....
I was embarrassed for the lack of structure from almost every angle of the restaurant.
After ordering our appetizer we finally placed our food order in. We watched him write our order down and then go directly to a different table and greet them. And about 25 minutes later he came back to our table and said that our food was in the kitchen window but it didn't look like what we ordered. And then he asked us to repeat our whole entire order.
Both my fiance and I work at a steakhouse. We are both bartenders as well as servers so we know this trick. He lost our ticket and didn't want to admit it. Which okay I understand you have rough nights but also why are they seating him more than he can handle. It ruins the experience for everybody. So then after giving our whole entire order back to him. Our food still does not come out on the fly it still takes a decent amount of time. In our restaurant if that were to happen we put their order above everybody else's for the fact that they have already been waiting for so long .....
We then receive our food and our queso dip we ordered with the chips(at the beginning) was missing. So then a food runner came right back with it it was congealed and not not hot to touch at all. It was as if they shut their warmer off that they keep the cheese in or something because we didn't want anything to do with it.
Before our food came out we both asked for my fiance's drink two separate occasions to be replaced with something else because he did not like the DR pepper.. it took until after we were almost done with our meals to finally get that.
The server then offered dessert. We also know this trick as well because we use it in our store when people are dissatisfied with the quality of food or something like that. The service straight up was awful. We would have comped the whole check had it been our restaurant. I'm not one to ask for things like that. I did tip more than 20% still.... But you guys are not going to see us back there for quite some time.
We declined the free dessert. We just wanted to go home at that point... so he took care of the guac.
He then let us know that he knows things didn't go well.
You won't See us back there for quite some time.
Again I'm doing this in hopes that somebody of importance sees this agrees with me that
A- no chemicals of any kind that can be smelled by the naked nose should be used while people are inside of a restaurant dining where they are going to eat.....
B- when the hosts see people please make sure they give them the proper equipment so they're not just sitting at the table.
C- when a server loses somebody's ticket I feel like a manager should be involved at that point. The fact that one did not is either because the server did not let anybody of importance know that he had messed up or the manager just didn't care.
Either way I was dissatisfied with the service. And I can't remember the last time I was able to say that anywhere I went.
I've been to a Rocco's tacos before and I had a completely different experience. We drove an hour away...
Read moreThis happened a few weeks ago and I realized it has deterred me from ever wanting to go back here, so I figured I may as well share in case it's useful for any families of young children.
We live nearby and came for lunch at 2pm on a Wednesday with our daughter (9 months). We have done this before with her in the stroller and there wasn't much room for it, so this time we were carrying her. The hostess was friendly and told us it would be a 15 minute wait, and that we could wait at the bar, gesturing to the outdoor bar area. It was at least 90 degrees, so we asked if we could wait in the AC instead, which she said was no problem.
We got inside and sat at the only available seats, two bar stools, me holding my daughter, hoping to look at the menu to make ordering faster when we were seated at a table.
After what seemed like longer than usual before anyone greeted us or helped us (clearly they were being told the following), the female bartender came over and told us we weren't allowed to sit at the bar with a baby and would have to move. We were embarrassed—we only chose to wait there because there isn't any other air conditioned area to wait. We explained we're just waiting for a table and it would be ready soon, and was that OK?
Her hands flew up in defense and she starts saying, "Hey that's just what I'm told, we can't have a baby here, these bottles have exploded before!"... Your bottles explode at the bar? Surely no human young or old should be near it then? I would love to say I said that but I didn't—we're kind, fair people and have no desire to be difficult, although it seemed like she had already decided we were. It also didn't occur to me at the time that we had already been told we could wait in the outdoor bar area.
I said it was OK and that I could stand and wait, I was flustered and just wanted to be away from her because it looked like we were being difficult. My husband was asking if there was anywhere else we could please wait, which of course, there isn't. There was a male bartender there too who looked like he sympathized with us and asked if there was anything he could do because he wanted us to enjoy our time there, which we appreciated. But what could he do?
We had to stand by the servers' station, holding the baby, her changing bag, and booster seat, trying not to get in everyone's way. We felt extremely awkward and unwelcome, and didn't end up staying to eat in the end. Of course, we won't be leaving our daughter at home any time soon, so I guess we'll just prioritize one of the more family accessible restaurants...
Read moreI hardly go out of my way to leave reviews, but I have given this place time after time again to do things right but no matter what it seems like they just can’t do it.
We’ve been to this Rocco’s a bunch of times, and every time there’s a problem with the waiting staff or bartenders.
Our most recent experience has been at the bar. We ordered drinks, and then asked to be moved to a high table inside as it got breezy outside. We were told no problem, and a nice man behind the bar moved our food for us. 45 minutes goes by, no one comes and asks us to refill our drinks, order more food, etc. Nothing. Our bartender saw us, looked at us multiple times in the eye, and never came over. And no, it wasn’t busy, whatsoever.
Last week, we came in. I ordered a steak quesadilla, no onions or peppers. Our waiter came up to me after we ordered to confirm this. He said “no peppers or onions, right?” and then my quesadilla came out with onions and peppers. This waiter was actually extremely nice and apologetic and I believe it wasn’t his fault, and he blamed the cook staff and told us he didn’t understand why the cooks didn’t pay attention. He then had it remade for us relatively quickly. Mistakes happen.
A few weeks ago we ordered food inside at a regular table, my husbands steak came out cold, and my food was also wrong. We had the same issue after we got our food - the waiter never came back, never asked if the food was right. We had to go to the front and tell someone.
The time before that, we got seated at a table and 20 minutes went by. No waiter showed up. We had to go to the front again and ask for a waiter, and the waiter that did show up seemed very annoyed. More mid level service.
The time before THAT, my brother was in town. All 3 of us went out to eat. Got seated at a table again, and the waiter never showed up, again! We had a bet with each other wondering when the waiter would show up and they never did.
I gave this place multiple times to make things right and they continue to disappoint. It’s a shame because the drinks are tasty and I love Mexican food, but it’s hard to want to come back to a place where you feel like an inconvenience and the people running the place don’t prioritize customer service.
I would understand minor service issues if we came at peak hours when it was packed, but we don’t. Every time we come there are countless empty tables.
If the management changes over and the new team prioritizes customer service and experience, I’d give it a try again! If not, we won’t plan...
