We always love the food + service is generally very good. We have recommended this place to friends + even bought gift cards on occasion, however our experience today was not good -- really through the fault of trying to be overly accommodating to the wrong guests, and I say this as an animal lover + animal fosterer...
We chose to sit outside as we'd just come from the gym + weren't dressed properly for the dining room, so we decided sit at a table on the patio and enjoy the fresh air. Also on the patio was a trio who had their small dog leashed + under the table. Every time a server would approach the table, the silly dog yapped, LOUDLY. Every time a bird or leaf flitted by, it yapped. When my husband got up from + returned to our table, it went berserk. It was obvious to everyone except the obnoxious trio that this was a problem + i made a remark to the server, who kindly asked us if we would like to move inside but the damage was already done. These inconsiderate, selfish buffoons were irritatingly oblivious or at least pretending to be and in the restaurant business, never EVER should an irritating companion animal be seen to take priority over...
Read moreThis rating is strictly based on horrendous customer service. Let me start first by saying my first experience here, several weeks ago, was great. Today I decided to stop in for a quick order to go (a few of their apple pastries) and somehow found myself in the crosshairs of a server clearly overwhelmed, and having a bad day. Standing patiently near the counter, I was told I would be assisted in a few moments. Not a problem, I was not in a hurry, and I could see the servers were rushing to help other tables. Shortly after making contact with the first, pleasant server, I was then rudely addressed by the older server (blonde): “To-Go?! we are just TOO busy for to go orders!” I was super shocked with the tone and aggressive nature of her speech. I kindly replied “I planned only to take away one pastry..?”She then replies by rolling her eyes..I tell her “to have a great day” and begin to walk to the door..I could hear the younger server attempt to intervene as I was telling her thank you but by then the energy was so awful I was over it. It’s such a shame because the cafe has...
Read moreWe just happened upon this place on a lark. We had just arrived in town and were waiting for our rental to become available. So, we decided to grab a quick brunch and saw Cafe Gourmand. The only negative experience we had was when we first approached (which is the reason for the 4/5). We asked the hostess whether one of the tables outside was clear or not. She responded that it wasn’t her table so she didn’t know. Ok. So we asked another waitress the same question as she walked by and she said she was busy and didn’t know. We waited about 5 minutes just standing there until a few of the other parties sitting outside waved us into the outdoor seating area and told us to sit down. Apparently the “Wait to be Seated” sign is a suggestion and we were lucky enough some locals helped us out. Very odd behavior though and not typically French just lazy business practices.
Other than the passive aggressive wait staff, everything else was pretty decent and what you would expect from an...
