My Husband and I went here on a Sunday. We didn't care for our breakfast at all. I don't know if we went on a busy day or whatever, but that should not matter. Good food and service should always be consistent. Okay, so we get there, the place is busy but we got seated right away. Our server came over and we knew what we wanted so we ordered right away. We waited more than 30 minutes for our food. Meanwhile a couple sitting adjacent to us were seating after we were, yet they were served before we were. I asked our server what was taking so long, she said "Your food is at the window, but I have this large table to take care of, then you will be up." I noticed the people at the table behind us were waiting a while and they were complaining and seemed upset. We finally got our breakfast and it was nothing to write home about. First let me say, the presentation was lacking. The portions were so small. I think I had only about 10 small pieces of potato on my plate. I ordered scrambled eggs with swiss cheese, home fries, corned beef hash and a side of short stacks. The pancakes were not cooked very well and tasted like instant pancake mix. Nothing special. The corned beef hash was very oily and greasy. Gross! My Husband ordered a bagel sandwich with egg, ham & cheese and home fries. Again, a small amount of potatoes. Also, he asked for a "toasted" bagel. The bagel sandwich was NOT toasted. One disappointment after another! Our waiter did not even ask us how the food was because she knew we were not happy! She put our receipt on the table and said "nothing" and walked away. And of course she did not get a tip. A tip should be "earned". I complained to the Manager and she wanted to give us a coupon and I said "We won't be back". Personally, I think there are plenty of other great breakfast places around Wellington than Short Stacks! Another thing, a "good" restaurant serves the food immediately -- not let it "sit" in the window,...
Read moreThe incredibly rude owner manager should make himself scarce if he wants to keep customers. The customer is always right- that is the rule of thumb in the service industry. I have never been spoken to so rudely in my life and I will NEVER patronize this restaurant again since my doing so could put money in this manâs pockets.
If you like a place filled with uncleared dirty tables, where one customer complained she waited over an hour and still did not have her food, and a man waits 10 minutes at the counter to try and pay his check since no one came to his table to collect it, this is the place for you.
We waited over 10 minutes to be seated by the owner manager. Since we could see how terrible the service was, we asked if we could order right then, at which point he said âyour server will be over soon.â I responded that I would like him to take our order. His response in an extremely short rude tone. âif youâre in a hurry go to McDonaldâs.â That was it for us. I lost my temper and told him FU, as did my son. He responded âReally you have no class â as if HE was classy being rude to customers. He told us âdonât come back here.â No worries, we never will. Up to this point I had been a regular weekly or more customer since 2020.
This is honestly the rudest and most ignorant owner/manager I have ever encountered anywhere. I am sure he will continue to alienate his customer base until there is no one left.
I highly recommend Kekeâs, Peteâs Place and First Watch where they understand good food and customer service.
As you can tell from this ownerâs response to us and others, who have had negative things to say here he is a terrible and unprofessional owner/manager. Everyone else there has always been courteous and respectful. I hope this man gets some counseling as he clearly needs it.
Iâm sure if he spends more time in the restaurant it will quickly go out of business. His people skills are...
Read moreWe had not been to Short Stacks in quite awhile, but wanted a quick breakfast while out running around. Greeted quickly and sat in a booth, drink order taken and served timely. The table was a bit sticky as if it may have been wiped with a heavy dose of syrup from the guests before, leaving the fresh place mats stuck to the table. Our order was taken by our server Lynn who was sweet and efficient, a short stack of pancakes with whipped cream, and scrambled eggs with bacon, hash browns and toast. The food came out in a short time and served with a smile. As far as the food, ehhhhh, mediocre I'd say. Honestly, the scrambled eggs felt old and over cooked, like they were not cooked fresh to order, not hot as one might hope. The hash browns also not to a nice serving temp as one would expect, scooped out of a pan and served. The bacon just ok. The pancakes....just ok, not hot and fluffy like some others I have has in other places like this. Given the choices in Wellington I would choose Gabriel's, but for a place in the bigger area of similar offerings Gun Club Cafe will always be the winner when it comes to food, feel, and consistency!! UPDATE To the "Owner" I give honest reviews sir/madam. What competitor are you speaking of? Instead of acknowledging you missed the mark today and reading an honest review, you want to say I was sent there for some reason other than to have a decent breakfast. Your reaction and accusation seems to indicate you have a problem with some un-named competitor, and a lack of accepting an honest review of your...
