It's love at first bite! My wife and I are regulars at the downtown location but it's a bit of a drive coming from the Palms West area. We are so happy a new location came closer to home and after visiting for the first time, we couldn't be happier. The Wellington location is absolutely fantastic from the ambiance and atmosphere, the staff and the food. While it's the same ownership as downtown, it seems the food preparation, presentation and taste are much better. Our server Stephanie was on point! She checked on us frequently, engaged in brief small talk, was very personable and an overall delight. She certainly put our experience there over the top. Looking around at other staff and customers, that level of service wasn't isolated to just our table. The mild salsa was delicious and the house made hot sauces were fire 🔥 both in flavor and heat! It's hard to get these right but the octopus, pork belly and mushroom tacos were prepared and cooked to absolute perfection! I'm so happy for this location to be close by as we have found our new local taco place. Can't wait to come back time and time again! Thanks again Stephanie, you were superb and a great asset to Wellington! (Captain Matt and Nurse Chelsea)

I had to try this New Mexican restaurant. I’m from Texas and love Mexican food. Chips and salsa are an important part of a Mexican dinner. With their chips and salsa being homemade, my expectations were high. The chips were over fried with no salt. The mild red salsa had little flavor and no heat. Their salsa verde was much better with more heat and flavor. My wife had two very good items, a chorizo taco and short rib empanada. They were quite good. Had the chile relleno. I always try them at a new restaurant to see if I will like the place. They were a good item, but didn’t don’t taste like a traditional chile relleno. It was very stuffed with a tasty filling, but the relleno itself couldn’t be tasted. I guess that this restaurant being the “New “Mexican style, it wasn’t supposed to be like what I am used to. I just like traditional Tex Mex more. It is an attractive restaurant with a nice bar, but it is not be our go to place.

This place was so good. We have been down here from NY for a bit over a year and struggle to find places we like in and around Wellington that remind us of NY. The first bite of the empanada with the chipotle mayo was heaven. It was so flavorful and delicious. Everything went up from there. The guac was the best we’ve had since being down here and we try A LOT of different places guac. Tostadas with the spicy chorizo, fry and seasoning on the fish taco, the homemade tortillas. This place was such a find. My husband said we would be coming back at least once a week! That’s saying a lot because he’s very picky! Our waitress was also great. Super friendly and suggesting different things we might like once we started ordering.

My husband wanted to go here because he thought we had been here in the past and we liked it. I knew we hadn’t, but the menu look good so I said sure let’s go. Love the atmosphere from the minute you walked in. It was set up very nicely with a bar on your left and then the tables in the back. There were a few TVs in case you wanted to catch the game. Our server was awesome. She’d asked if it was our first time explained what some of the weekly specials were and then took our drink order and of course we place an order for chips and salsa. The chips and salsa came out very quickly and the drinks followed soon after. I got the house margarita and added the prickly pear, which was amazing. (FYI Margarita Monday sounds promising!) Chips and salsa were equally as good. My husband didn’t really like the thickness of the chips, but I did and the salsa was so good. I got three of the tacos: shrimp, al pastor and el hongo (mushrooms). They were all really good, but the shrimp was my favorite. Hubby got the beef chimichanga and he liked it but he said next time he would get the chicken. We didn’t have room for dessert and weren’t going right home otherwise we would’ve tried the Xango which is a fried burrito stuffed with banana caramel Brulé!!! Definitely will return most likely on a Monday lol. The service was excellent and so is the food. Give it a try if you’re...

Friday night fail with the family.

We went to Rivales with our three daughters (4,6,8) after our neighbour told us there was a new Mexican restaurant in town. We were very excited as we love Mexican food. (I even told our waitress we were hoping the spot to be our new go to). After ordering and receiving our guacamole starter and cocktails we were quickly left to wait for about an hour and 15 minutes. At some point my wife went out with the girls as they were getting tired and impatient. When they came back after about 20 min the food was not there yet. We waited another 15-20 min and I told one of the staff if we could have our waitress. He went on to see her but she did not come and did a couple of back and forth to the kitchen before I had to raise my voice for attention. We left without eating and she credited one of the cocktails and the nachos in apology.

I hope this is a false start to this new restaurant. I would have rather have the staff told us sorry for the wait would you like a drink on us for the inconvenience than being ignore to finally leave unsatisfied and them crediting drinks anyway.

I dont want to comment on the food as we did not get a chance to really try it outside of...
