Pics! I must do better that when I give food reviews on good and not so want to eat whats in front of me.
I arrived came in to grab lunch for me and my co-pilot, courtesy of a wonderful customer who blessed us with a nice gift card. The combos we ordered were excellent as always. I love the food and being what it is... FAST FOOD...I love to eat slowly but never do because of 2 opposing reasons. The burgers are medicine to the greasy need to pig out so its quickly dispatched. The fries I have an equal passion for and as a rule that if I dont what a food temperature imbalance in 2 minutes the fries must be devoured while the burger is in your mouth and be totally gone or else the shoe string fries become cold potato ammo once the taste heat shield has vaporized.
Am I preaching to the choir or am I a liar?...LOL
..........END OF REVIEW.........
COMEDIC RELIEF:
My lunch and my partner in business recieved a very generous gesture. I don't want that very sincerity to be missed or side step while rendering reviews that could be completely summed up with the vitals. I just want to deliver actual experiences with some color. Occassionally, buil
IF THE GIFT CARD... was printed and you are not accustomed to receiving them in this medium you may be taken back. You'll smile kindly soften by hints of thanks but as you take ownership your eyes will glare over with suspicion at the presentation. Try not to flick back and forth between giver and gift spreadsheet attempting a mental outline of generalities captured from small threads of fineprint data. Thumbing through pages of graphics... logos on page 2...areas advertising urls with instructions on use on page 1,3 and 5 (wheres page 4??!.)
Fair warning because if you are like me you'll forget that your mouth is open as you process. Then snap closed to a creepy half smile that you realized has swallowed the tail end of words of encouragement. Just for whom? Who knows... Imagine the heart ache of printing those out for 100 people 3 to 4 times a year! Laugh...and think of the deck of paper as Monopoly's CHANCE#2 and figure it out later.
Just remember that the paper gift card info and pin has to be manually entered cannot be used at the self check out.
Yeah, I miss the golden years when a gift card felt like a credit card that we'd peel from that sticky trustworthy adhesive inside a folded protective enclosure. It felt right... Hope this helped or entertained at a minimum. If neither I apologize for making your eyes sore. Go out and buy a burger from the lovely staff at Steak and Shake on Dale Mabry and post a pic with the self check out....
Read moreI'd like to preface this review by stating that I came through the drive-thru around 10:30 p.m. Iâve worked in fast food beforeâI get that itâs late and youâre ready to go home. But that doesnât excuse the attitude and laziness I dealt with during this visit.
The woman taking my order seemed visibly annoyed I was even there. The very first thing she said to me was âHold on a second,â with no greeting or apology. That set the tone for the whole experience. I donât mind waiting, but basic courtesy goes a long way. She interrupted me multiple times while I was ordering and made no effort to be polite or helpful.
Our order was pretty simple for two people (big, but not huge); two meals, two shakes (so four drinks total), and a side of tenders with honey mustard. Now, againâIâve worked fast food. Four or more drinks means give to the customer a drink carrier. No one wants to use their cup holders for shakes, come on (that's just a small nitpicky thing though, only stood out to me because of how negative of an experience in all this was). When I asked for a carrier, I got another wave of attitude, like I was being difficult just for asking. I paid (a little awkwardly on my part, I admit), but again, there was no effort made to create a positive or even neutral customer interaction. After handing over our drinks, I was told âHave a good nightâ in the most robotic tone possible. Confused, I asked about the rest of our order, as we hadnât yet received any food. Only after I asked about the rest of the order did she realize nothing had been bagged. Thatâs when her attitude finally shifted a bit to something more polite. I donât mind an honest mistake (Iâve definitely made them, too), but it was clear she wasnât paying attention and didnât really know or care about what we ordered. Which is shocking considering she was acting like it was a tremendous amount of work to even put in the order.
Adding to the concern, she was only wearing one glove (which stood out to me, considering food safety practices usually involve two), and when we finally checked our order, we found missing sauce, swapped toppings on both burgers, and no honey mustard with the tenders. At that point, I didnât bother going back around to correct the mistakesâit simply wasnât worth repeating the experience. We made the best of it at home.
Iâve had rough shifts, Iâve been tired on the job, and I still donât think that justifies treating customers like theyâre an inconvenience. Even on my worst days on shift, I wouldn't treat someone like this. I really hope management sees this and...

Seated after 15 minutes.
Another 15 minute wait to speak to manager (who evidently was the only cook!!!!)
Manager was very curt, quite argumentative and extremely hostile. Said she "understaffed lunch so she could have a better crew at dinner!" And our server was busy training a new server! And the wait time was adequate and and she was doing a good job managing....she even argued the time we waited (even though I took a call coming into restaurant) so I knew the correct wait time!
WHAT RESTAURANT CHAIN TRAINS MANAGEMENT TO ARGUE WITH AND CONTRADICT CUSTOMERS?
Having already waited 30 minutes, we thought the manager would at least "hurry our order...."
NOT.
My iced tea glass had a chunk out of rim....I almost cut my tongue and lips---(yet no wait staff even noticed during several re-fills.)
Ordered steak burger specials that were on huge posters over front door......they arrived another 15 minutes later LOOKING NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE!
---Server even remarked people often complained about lack of accuracy. My lunch guest stated they looked like $2.00 burgers....nothing like what we ordered. I took pictures, but they get lost in transitioning to my new phone.---
Red Robin has numerous delicious and attractive looking $6.00 burgers that ABSOLUTELY SHAME THESE $10.00 STEAK BURGERS!
SO---if you want horrible service.....broken glasses....long wait.....food that looks and tasted ordinary and cheap....and to be cussed out by a short-order-cook-manager----go to Steak'n';Shake by Home depot.
Your time wasted will only be matched by the tasteless OVERPRICED food.....not to mention the extremely classy...
