A Bizarre and Disappointing Encounter My recent visit to Thai Cafe left me utterly perplexed and ultimately, quite disappointed. From the moment we stepped inside, the ambience felt strangely off. It took an inexplicably long time for any staff member to acknowledge our presence; it was as if the back of the house was completely unaware they had customers. Eventually, we were seated, which was a minor inconvenience compared to what followed. I ordered a glass of Geisen Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, priced at $14. What arrived at the table was a shock – a glass barely filled, containing what looked to be around 4 ounces of wine. When I politely inquired about their pour size and was told it was 8 ounces, the discrepancy was glaring. I mentioned that it seemed significantly less but stated I wouldn't make a fuss, though I certainly wouldn't be ordering another. The real letdown came with the first sip. This was unequivocally not a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. I was almost certain it was just their house wine, masquerading as something else. After another extended absence, our server reappeared with a small craft pour, adding perhaps another ounce to my original meager serving. I declined it, explaining that the taste was simply not right. When I asked her to clarify what she had actually served me, hoping it was just a simple mistake of grabbing the wrong bottle, her response was astonishing. She admitted to giving me a Sauvignon Blanc that wasn't even listed on their menu – a Josh Sauvignon Blanc. For anyone with even a passing knowledge of wine regions, it's common knowledge that Josh Cellars is a California wine, not from New Zealand. At this point, any desire to dine at Thai Cafe vanished. I requested our check for my child's apple juice, as we were clearly not going to eat there after this blatant misrepresentation. The server even argued with me slightly, which I found baffling. We simply wanted to pay for the one item we consumed and leave. The entire experience felt unprofessional and frankly, dishonest. The lack of awareness upon our arrival, the short pour of what was supposed to be a specific wine, and then the admission of serving an entirely different, off-menu bottle – a bottle from a completely different region – all contributed to a truly bizarre and unsatisfactory visit. I cannot recommend Thai Cafe based on this experience and would advise others to be cautious about what they order and receive. Will...
Read morePreamble - We eat at several Thai restaurants in the area and we know Thai food and often buy our favorite dishes.
I certainly cannot give this restaurant a good recommendation for their food and the service and atmosphere here were basically "meh". The only reason I am giving a two star rating is because the appetizer and one(1) main course was good. Otherwise the rating would be lower.
We came in for dinner after an FGCU game at Hertz. We had the spring rolls as an appetizer and those were good. We ordered the garlic chicken, massaman curry chicken and phad thai.
The garlic chicken had no flavor and was like eating just plain chicken with vegetables; no garlic at all. We will probably eat those leftovers but first add the missing garlic. A boring meal for the taste buds.
The massaman curry chicken also did not have any flavor. Where was the curry? There was no flavor whatsoever. The potatoes and carrots were close to al dente and the food was not hot nor did it feel like it was cooked long enough. Another boring meal for the taste buds.
The only saving grace of this dinner was the phad thai as that was a decent main course. The other two main courses were terrible; no taste and boring. We visit other Thai restaurants in the area and the food is much, much, much better. The total, with tip, was one hundred dollars ($100 dollars). I'm sorry. The food is not worth that kind of money. Look someplace else for Thai food. Two thumbs down on this...
Read moreI ate lunch here today, at the Estero location, with my family of 4. We have been eating at this location since it’s opening, and are very unhappy with today’s service. My mother’s Massaman Curry chicken was not fully cooked, and the potatoes were so hard, practically raw. We addressed this to our waitress, and she had no resolution. Our other meals were sub-par. After paying for the bill, the waitress came back to our table to complain to my mother that she did not leave enough of a tip. The waitress stated “you did not leave the required tip”. My mother informed her the tip is discretionary to the customer. The waitress then went to complain to another employee. We could hear their conversation from our table. The other employee then loudly said “oh my god, they are so cheap!!” And he repeated this multiple times. I then informed him that we would not return to this restaurant, he laughed and said “good”. When I asked for the manager, he said his name is Tony and he is the manager. I then asked to speak with the owner, and Tony stated the owner is not available and to send a message through the restaurant website. I have never been so disgusted and disappointed with service. Especially from someone claiming to be the manager! Will not return again, nor...
