About a year ago, I visited Tomasino’s with my daughter and mother-in-law. While we all ordered pasta dishes, only my family's meals arrived—mine never came, despite multiple follow-ups with the staff. Eventually, I told them to cancel my order since everyone else had finished eating. As we were paying the bill, my meal was finally brought out in a to-go box. Fortunately, it was delicious, as were the other meals, which made the experience all the more frustrating.
This week, I decided to give the restaurant another try while visiting town, hoping that the service had improved. Unfortunately, the experience was quite similar. After 20 minutes without receiving drinks or menus, I had to go to the counter to request them myself. It took another 10 minutes before our orders were taken. Again, everyone at our table received their meals except for me. My dish arrived approximately 10 minutes later. Utensils were not provided, and despite repeated requests—including my own attempts to retrieve them—they didn’t arrive for what felt like another 10 minutes. We also requested extras like butter and Parmesan, which were never brought out.
The manager did stop by to apologize for the delay and offered to comp our drinks and provide a discount, which was appreciated. However, he also offered several excuses for the service, which was disappointing. Given that a year has passed since my initial visit, it’s unfortunate to see that the same service issues persist.
To be clear—the food is excellent. Rich flavors, perfectly cooked pasta, and great pizza options make Tomasino’s a worthwhile choice if you’re willing to be extremely patient. But in terms of overall experience, the service continues...
Read moreWent to Tomasinos for Lunch on Monday. Myself and 6 coworkers. We were seated and drink order was taken. It took a while to receive our drinks as the person who took our drink order was in and out of the restaurant to the patio dealing with other patrons. Some of our drinks sat on the counter at the drink machine while he was tending to other patrons outside. They sat so long that the ice that was in my sweet tea had melted.
Finally after getting our drinks, our order was taken. As the orders were being taken, several of us wanted to get the special that was advertised on Facebook. "2 slices and a drink" One of the party wanted 2 cheese slices. He was told that they did not have cheese pizza and that he would have to pay for a whole pizza to be made. Mind you, the advertised special states that toppings are extra. One would assume that plain cheese pizza slices would be an option. Others in the part had to change their order due to being told that they would have to pay for a whole pizza.
Based on not wanting to pay for a whole pizza in order to have the lunch special, we decided to leave. I ended up paying 24 dollars for drinks only. What made matters worse was that most of us had not even finished our drinks. There was not even an offer to put the drinks in a to go cup for us.
This was the second time I had been to this pizza restaurant. The first time, I was able to get the lunch special, and there were no issues. Unfortunately, based on my most recent experience, I will not be back. There are plenty of other pizza places to...
Read moreAs Lake Nona locals, we usually dine at Piazza Italia, which never disappoints. We decided to give Tomasino’s a try since it’s closer to home and we saw a few mentions online, including on TikTok. Unfortunately, while the food itself was pretty good, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
The service was surprisingly poor. The place proudly touts “Welcome to the family” as a greeting, but if this is how they treat family, I’d hate to see how they treat strangers. There was no soap in the bathroom—seriously concerning, especially when you think about where the staff is washing their hands. I let one of the employees know, and she just shrugged it off.
We ordered at the counter—one pizza, a draft beer, and a kid’s pasta with marinara. The total came to $50, and we added a 15% tip, bringing it to $65. No issue tipping for good service, but what we experienced didn’t merit it.
We sat and waited, and the food arrived packed in to-go containers, even though we were clearly dining in. The beer came in a glass, but everything else felt like we were being rushed out. The server recognized the mistake, hesitated, then just walked away. No plates. No silverware. When I went to get some, I was met with attitude—as if I was inconveniencing them.
We genuinely wanted to like this place. It’s convenient, and the food isn’t bad. But the lack of care, poor hospitality, and basic hygiene concerns make it hard to justify a return visit—especially when there are better options just...
