Editing my once stellar review of this establishment based on more recent poor experiences as of March 2025.
My family used to love the food here, but it is evident there has been a management or ownership change. Food quality, flavor and portions have all diminished in just a few months. What was once a weekly favorite for my family has now become a repeated disappointment. We won’t be returning.
The tzatziki is bland, with large chunks of cucumber. The garlic more than overpowers the dill and ruins a once fantastic dish. The mixed shawarma dish used to be my go to dish but now I cannot stomach the fatty chicken bits used in the dish. It used to be juicy and flavorful (as described in my prior review), however, it is quite the opposite in its current quality and preparation. Even the pita bread is different.
Not sure what happened to the original owners, but if the current operation desires for repeat business, I recommend a serious evaluation of your kitchen. Very disappointed with the changes that have been made to our favorite Greek spot.
A Stellar Gem in the Bloomingdale Neighborhood
If you’re craving authentic Greek cuisine with a side of warm hospitality, this place is a must-visit! From my first visit, the friendly wait staff welcomed me like family, making the experience feel as comforting as it is delicious.
The beef and chicken shwarma here are top-notch—juicy, flavorful, and clearly of the highest quality. Whether you’re indulging in a perfectly seasoned gyro or sharing the family mezza platter, you can taste the care and attention that goes into every bite.
The portions are incredibly generous, ensuring you leave full and happy (and likely with leftovers to enjoy later). The menu offers a wonderful variety, from traditional favorites like dolmas and spanakopita to refreshing Greek salads piled high with fresh veggies and creamy feta.
It’s rare to find a restaurant that nails both authenticity and great service, but this one has it all. Do yourself a favor and make it your next dinner destination—you won’t be...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal customer of Truly Greek for several years now, even through two ownership changes, and it’s always been a place I could count on for great quality and taste. However, after the recent ownership change (the third, unfortunately), I can confidently say I won’t be returning.
First off, the entire menu had changed. Not only were the prices significantly higher, but the quality of the food took a serious nosedive. My fiancé ordered the chicken shawarma, which tasted more like the ultra-processed, rubbery chicken you get at a bad Chinese restaurant, and the fries were stale. I went with the gyro platter, which was a complete disappointment: the meat was chopped into tiny pieces, super greasy, and the portion was so small that it didn’t feel worth the price. To make matters worse, the rice was drenched in oil, making it almost inedible.
The service wasn’t much better. There were only two waitresses running around trying to handle everything, while the owner stood around doing nothing. When we expressed how unhappy we were with the food, the waitress said she’d speak to the owner to see what could be done. I actually saw her speak to him, and he chuckled and walked away without offering any kind of apology or solution. He didn’t come over once to address our concerns, nor did he seem to care that we were dissatisfied.
To top it off, I got extremely sick after eating the food, which was the final straw. Between the terrible food, high prices, and zero customer service, I won’t be returning again. It’s such a shame to see what was once a great place go...
Read moreHi, my name is Matthew. I like to give every business a fair chance to do the right thing. I ordered food from Truly Greek, the food showed up an hour and a half later. In fair, part of that is on DoorDash as supposedly they showed up late. That said, I have nothing to do with the partnership between doordash and Truly Greek and they should have made the food fresh instead of giving me 90 minute old food and then figured out the issue with doordash themselves insead of telling me to call doordash to fix a prolem i have nothing to do with. That said I called Doordash and they were working on a solution. On top of my order being cold and ridiculously late the order was wrong. That is NOT on door dash. So I called Truly Greek and spoke to Jordan and explained that my order was not only late but incorrect and ruined. He told me that night he would take care of replacing the order. I called today to have the order replaced and they had nothing but excuses telling me he never said that, even though he took down my name, and phone number that night. Furthermore they said to order again on doordash and that they would "make sure the order is correct" WOW.....thats amazing...thank you so much for producing the order that I asked for. So not only was I lied to, I was given a cold, wrong order, promised a fix, then denied the fix on my following call. How you can call yourself a business and then screw up customers orders and then lie to them about fixing the problem I dont know. But I would think twice before you order from this...
