A cut above. Be aware of the price (dishes are about $12-17) and the wait to prepare your food (they say 15-20 minutes; it was about 20 for me). I got takeout but the seating looked nicer than I expected: there were umbrellas shading the picnic tables in front of Dos Coffee and Wine next door. One of the Uptown Scratch owners was bringing people their food there so it's obviously allowed. While you're waiting for your food I recommend you go into Dos. Though I only got some pastries to go I noticed that it looks like a comfortable coffeehouse: plenty of armchairs and sofas and a few people. Next time I'd like to get a Champagne cocktail from Dos if I'm eating outside. Whether you're eating there or getting takeout I recommend you get some of the desserts from the case of Creme de la Cocoa treats (truffles, pastries, etc.) in Dos.
The food was good enough that I'd try this place again. My companion and I split two dishes. She loved the hamburger and the onion rings, the shrimp po' boy and fries less so. I thought the hamburger was a cut above and liked the fries, and thought the onion rings were pretty good too. The bread on the shrimp po' boy was rather soggy however; I might have liked the fried shrimp alone better. Also, the ketchup with the fries didn't taste like Heinz: it seemed more piquant, and I think I'd prefer Heinz ketchup. Overall, I rather liked the food but haven't found a favorite so far. I'd like to come back and explore their menu more however. I might repeat the hamburger but I suspect I'd find something else there that I prefer more. One other quibble: I wish the takeout containers were free of crumbs or in a bag, as I was putting them in my car and I prefer to keep...

Uptown Scratch Kitchen at Marina Munch in St. Augustine is a culinary delight that exceeded all expectations during my recent visit. Led by the talented chef Kyle, the restaurant serves up a delectable array of dishes, including the St. Augustine Shrimp Taco and Philly Cheese Steak, accompanied by a side of Rosemary Garlic Fries.
From the moment I took my first bite, it was evident that freshness and quality are at the forefront of Uptown Scratch Kitchen's ethos. The St. Augustine Shrimp Taco was a flavor explosion, with succulent shrimp perfectly complemented by a medley of vibrant toppings, all nestled within a warm tortilla. It was a true homage to the flavors of the region.
Equally impressive was the Pilly Cheese Steak, which elevated the classic Philly favorite to new heights. The tender steak, smothered in gooey cheese and nestled in a soft roll, was a comforting indulgence that left me craving more.
And let's not forget about the Rosemary Garlic Fries – a true standout side dish that stole the show. Each fry was perfectly seasoned with fragrant rosemary and garlic, offering a crispy exterior and a fluffy interior that was simply irresistible. It's no wonder they were your favorite!
Throughout the meal, Kyle's passion for cooking and commitment to quality shone through, evident in every bite. The friendly and attentive service only added to the overall exceptional dining experience.
In conclusion, Uptown Scratch Kitchen at Marina Munch is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking fresh, flavorful cuisine in St. Augustine. Whether you're a fan of seafood, sandwiches, or crave-worthy sides, you're sure to find something to delight your taste buds at...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews I had high expectations. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak and Rosemary Garlic fries. I'm a bit of a Fry fanatic. After waiting and watching meal after meal come out to other guests, looking at what they ordered, including the fries. Which everyone's looked delicious. After receiving my order and jaunting on my way, I was pretty disappointed at the fries. Most were burnt to crisp. I mean like potato sticks crisp, fried the guts out, literally. Now I enjoy a slightly over done fry with a nice bite and crunch, but these weren't that. These were what was left over and dropped back into the fryer to refry. Yes, I can tell. To top it off the majority was what we used to call floaters. You know that single black one or two everyone gets occasionally. Those are one's that float out of the fry basket and keep frying for ages until it finally makes it's way into a batch of frys. Small 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch pieces made up the majority of my order. The cheesesteak was tasty however, not my favorite by far. The caramelized onions were entirely too sweet. Over powering sweet. It would have been much better without them. I would have removed them but they were abundant and stirred into the steak. The portions were on the smallish side considering the price, $18(The menu board said $17 but was charged $18) before tax and tip. Maybe an off day. My luck has always been that if any restaurant is going to serve a bad meal; it's always going to be to me. So. I never fully write one off on my first visit. Not sure I'll make it back there but it won't be because I...
