2 years ago I rated this place five stars. Every time I've had company come, I take them to what's the scoop. The food used to be delicious. Even after the new owners took it over, it was still excellent, until about 1-2 months ago. The hamburger no longer tastes like real meat. It tastes like a veggie burger or something. The fries are flimsy and no longer crisp. Then today I ordered a Chicago dog, sat there and waited for them to make it, and then took it out to my car to take a bite. They didn't put any of the sport peppers on there. A Chicago dog is not a Chicago dog without the sport peppers. That's where the kick comes from. So I took it back inside and asked for the sport peppers and they told me they didn't have any. Normally I would have just eaten it and not worried about it, but the girls attitude was so sour that I decided to ask for a refund. I should have looked at her name tag. But it was moments ago at lunch time on Monday June 18th, And I wanted the owners to know that the reason I asked for a refund and didn't just eat the hot dog was two-fold. Number one, you should tell the customer when they order that you don't have all the ingredients, not send them off with their food not mentioning it. Number two, that girl has a bad attitude. She actually turned and walked away from me while I was still talking and semi shrugged like she didn't care. That's when I said actually I would like a refund. And she called the girl who was cooking out of the back to come process the refund. I'll be watching my credit card to make sure it gets credited back, including the 20% tip that I gave for a to go order. I gave her the hot dog. I might come back for ice cream, but that is going to be all.. So disappointed to see this place...
Read moreAs a hobby, I travel up and down the Florida coast for workâand I always bring my dog along for the ride. I had high expectations for this place after seeing several positive reviews, but unfortunately, the experience did not live up to the hype.
I drove 20 minutes out of my way only to be disappointed. The atmosphere felt offânone of the staff seemed like they wanted to be there, and there were unsupervised kids running in and out of the kitchen, which raised some concerns about cleanliness and professionalism.
I originally came for the cheeseburgers, but that turned out to be a mistake. While the patties were a decent size, they were clearly frozen and tasted freezer-burnt. On top of that, they were over-charred and burnt. I couldnât believe I had to wait 25 minutes for something that tasted worse than fast food. For comparison, the quality of the burger was on par with Burger King or McDonaldâsânot even close to Culverâs. Sadly, I wish I had stopped there instead. Even my dog turned down the burger, which says a lot.
The one redeeming item was the milkshake. It was decentâbut nothing special. Honestly, you could make something just as good or better using Publix brand ice cream at home. Even the bananas they used werenât ripe.
If youâre looking for a quality burger and donât mind a bit of a drive, I recommend:
#1 Fatburger â Great burgers and solid milkshakes with a few classic flavors. #2 Pudgeâs â Excellent shaved ice and a wide variety of flavors, though they donât offer milkshakes. #3 Five Guys â Reliable burgers and...
Read moreStaff is not professional. I have brought my family in 3 different times around 815pm. Was giving complete attitude because the girls said they stop serving food around 8pm. The closing sign says they are open until 9pm. And there is nothing posted in the store saying they stop serving food past a certain time. Called to speak with the manager and I was told she was there the last visit me and my family came in to get some food. When the employee asked her if they can still serve us food, she rolled her eyes and said, "What do you want" very rudely. I proceeded to call during the morning time to speak with an owner or manager about my visit. The same girl answered the phone and told me there is no other manager and there was no way I could speak with the owners because she couldn't give out personal information. The food and ice cream are great when we go during the day, but if it is close to closing time. I do not reccomend coming to What's The Scoop. Or maybe at least have a sign saying they stop serving food after a certain time. You have lost my business 3 times already and probably will not even come back due to the attitudes given by the staff. My family has decided not to return and it is a shame because we love the small town ice cream shop feel. But we will be taking our business...
