Went in today for a visit. As is always the case, Willard's doesn't update their Untapped tap list. (Last update was May 31.) Arrive and out of forty taps, maybe twelve are actually filled. Bartender was super nice, as has always been the case with the staff, but, really? You pride yourself on having forty taps and have twenty-eight empty? You're not selling beer from untapped kegs sitting in a cooler.
And, sure, there's an "event" coming up. Lagers. OK? So you run taps to empty for days before? Not telling you how to run your business but my group didn't stay. Went up the street to Arkane and their full taps. May try again to be a patron once you all can regularly update a tap list.
Great beer selection and generally nice, friendly and knowledgeable staff. But, for the love of all things, update your Untapped draft list more than once or twice a week. Why pay for it if you're not going to keep it...
Read moreI like the laid back, young and fun vibe of most breweries because they feel like coffee houses with hipster vibes whereas most bars seem to be the opposite… but I loved this bar because it felt like a brewery. Half the patrons inside were playing board games (we took a Scrabble game for ourselves) and filling the air with conversation. The décor of Beer bottles covering the entire top half of the room was also very cool. The chalkboard displayed the 40 Beers on tap with 25% dedicated to local brewers (Like Cycle Brewing, Swamp Head and Cigar City). Colors are used to classify Beer types (Stout, Lager, etc). If you can’t make up your mind there’s the spin wheel. Flights are available. One guy seemed to make up the whole staff during my visit but I never had to wait for...
Read moreSecond visit: compared to the very best craft beer bars in the Tampa Bay area, this place definitely falls short. 40 beers on tap but not a lot of diversity of styles. Bottle/can list was ridiculously short for an establishment like this. The breadth of styles offered is very poor. Compared to a place like Independent across the bay, this place really falls way short. I will probably make it back here from time to time though relatively rarely - hoping that things will improve.
Outstanding beer selection. Kinda dive-bar-ish. Thought it was a great find until some yahoo who seemed to be a regular came in cursing up a storm and had to make sure everyone heard everything he had to say. Shame. Won't be rushing back - despite the great...
