Woody's Bar-B-Q — Restaurant in Florida

Wow! Our usual experience with a chain is that the individual items all taste "stamped out" and not at all like a privately owned barbecue. We ALL enjoyed our GREAT BBQ which we ordered for our family get-together. Woody's is going to be part of our future events because they serve quality foods with care - - - - and it shows! This past weekend (10/31/15) a Saturday, very late morning when the restaurant hadn't even opened up, yet, we called in our order to serve ten (ribs, chicken, sliced pork, slaw, baked beans, fries, sweet potatoes, thick-sliced buttered bread). My husband handled everything and picked-up our order in about an hour from when we called. We live across the state, on the gulf coast, and had no idea of what to do or whom to call for foods that we'd all enjoy. I love BBQ! Woody's is awesome! The chicken was tender, juicy and nicely flavored without being insulted with a paste of sauce. It was expertly done. The baked beans are full of the teeny bits of their great BBQ'd meats in a wonderful sauce. I could make a meal from these beans and a slice of the bread! This is the only restaurant where the slaw is an item you'd WANT to order. Am SO glad we had leftovers (ALL items were of very generous portions). Sliced pork was same quality as the chicken-----flavorful, juicy, tender.....AND not fatty! I was going to go back for tastes of the ribs and sweet potatoes but I just couldn't eat another bite! Our family talked of them during the meal and so I know that they were also happily consumed by our group! We'll be visiting our family again at the end of November and Woody's is already The Place to supply our hungry BBQ lovers picnics from now on. Thank you for making our weekend so memorable. Ordered from the early bird menu. I ordered prime rib and my friend the half slab baby back ribs. The ribs were so flat you could barely find the meat! We immediately called the server and asked about it. She started to say that it was because it was the early bird but then said that they did look small and she was going to check on it. My friend had eaten one rib and waited a little while and we heard nothing so she continued to eat. A manager finally appeared and said that she was going to offer another entree but she had already eaten it! We told her that we had told the server and she nastily said you have to give me more than 2 minutes! So she offered a free dessert. I then asked if this was real prime rib or pressed meat and she said of course it is real prime rib. It looked nothing like prime rib and she offered s new entree and I chose chicken fried steak, gravy on the side and I was glad I did. The gravy was super salty. We finally got our bill which had no price break on the dessert. When we went to pay it took almost 20 minutes to pay cause the bill was made out incorrectly! When I got home I wanted to have some of the dessert that I had ordered (bread pudding). When I opened the box it was a “loaf”of bread pudding that was ice cold. I heated a small piece and I could barely cut it and it tasted nothing like bread pudding. Live and learn I guess but I am out $38.00,...

This is a great, easy place to eat if you like BBQ and aren't on a big hurry. The environment is great for a casual meal with friends. I ate here with both my family and my sister's family for lunch on a Sunday in January 2019. We had a total of 4 adults, 2 teens, and 6 younger kids. The staff was friendly and accommodating. They were able to get us seated in under 10 minutes. The prices were good for both adults and kids and the food was great, too! During the meal the owner of the restaurant, Roger, came over and talked with us for a bit. He told the kids if they cleaned up the table he'd give them a each a little bowl of banana pudding wink. Needless to say, the kids cleaned the table real well. They stacked the dishes and silverware, and put the trash all in one place. As promised, the kids each got a dish of pudding! What a great gesture from an involved owner! He also mentioned that his wife, Kathy, had remodeled the ladies room, because clean restrooms are a big priority for them.
