3 stars is based on the food and the food alone. I would rate lower than that had the food not been tasty. Our service was terrible and our Chef literally just cooked the food. We frequent many Hibachi restaurants and with this one so close to home it has been a go to and the kids LOVE it. Well our Chef didn't do any of the 'tricks' we have come to know and love. The kids kept asking him to do his stuff but he didn't. No onion trick, no flame nothing. It was rather disappointing and the kids noticed. That is the only reason we go. At the end of the meal, we paid our check and took our children to the bathroom. We had left cash on the table as tip but the waitress literally waited for me at the bathroom shoved the receipt in my face and said that my husband didn't leave a tip. I said I assure you he did. She was very rude and would not let us leave without writing in a tip amount when cash had been left on the table. We picked up our cash and tipped on the card instead. We typically leave cash as a tip so the servers don't have to pay taxes on it. (I used to bar-tend). This was completely uncalled for and rather embarrassing to say the least. Read moreTHIEFS!! I watched our server go to 2 different computers with my debit card but she only came back with 1 receipt to sign. My phone was dead so I had to charge it in my car before being able to check my online banking in which I saw 2 pending transactions from shogun. I immediately called the manager Sunny. She said she would reimburse me with both transactions due to my bad experience (I told her about the weird feeling I got from the shady server going back and forth to different computers with my debit card) 52 hours go by with no reimbursement... only now 2 posted transactions to my banking account. I called sunny back and she said “No, we only swipe card once” and I said no I have already been to my bank today and they printed out the 2 transactions! She continued to argue with me saying no we only swipe once despite what my bank said. Finally she said “I call you back tomorrow! Okay bye” I said “wait wait wait!!! How are you going to call me back? What is my phone number?” She said “I have it written down” I said “okay what is it then?” She said “oh I don’t have it!” She wasn’t ever planning to call me back they are LIARS and THIEFS!! When our waters no ice were served, there was a thin oily film on the top surface of the cups. Several tables were served their sushi orders before us despite being seated afterwards. We stopped counting after at least the third set of patrons were provided sushi before our one $20 sushi order. When we disclosed to the presumably head waitress at the time that we’d would rather not wait for the sushi roll anymore after waiting over 45 minutes, especially if the chef hasn’t prepared the sushi roll yet, we were told “He’s working on it right now”. We were understanding since there was only one person working at the sushi counter, but it was the poor management of the scenario and having multiple waitresses brush us off during the meal that left an awful aftertaste for what was suppose to be a celebratory mother daughter date.
I’ve been to numerous Japanese restaurants of different prices ranges across the country and this was by far the worst dine-in experience I’ve ever had.
