Background- I've enjoyed Golden China since they opened and usually ordered only two dishes Shrimp with Lobster Sauce Combo or Boneless Chicken Combo on a weekly basis. Golden China)changed to no combo plates to a full dinner dish option. Cool no problem, but this should not have effected the recipe of the dishes. Shrimp w/lobster sauce over their fried rice was brown sauce/shrimp,seasoning, veggies (limited) with a great flavor and Won Ton Soup was clear broth, a shrimp and some chopped onion.-----------------------------------------Picked up my order tonight of won ton soup and Shrimp with lobster sauce. This stuff was terrible and a big change in the recipe's. The first two pics is the shrimp w/l sauce minus the 6 shrimps (it was more like a soup of water, starch, egg, 8 pcs. diced carrot and the green peas, I strained it to see what was in it. LOL. The won ton soup a dark broth with 6 won ton's. Both had zero flavor and all but the shrimp went down the disposal. My opinion you should have kept original recipe and went up on price. I called queston if it was the same owners as it has been closed the last month and the cashier said yes and had the recipe's changed and she said yes. Huh! I don't reccommend Golden Chaina anymore based on past versus new dishes and offering...
Read moreI moved away 4 years ago and came to town for work and wanted China Garden, which USED to be amazing. I ordered what I thought was a beef w/veg combo platter and sweet and sour chicken. All was not edible in my opinion and was over priced based on the Door Dash menu that is linked to their listing. Combo platter was supposed to come with fried rice, a wonton and an egg roll for $12.95 and a small s/s chicken for $8. Here’s where all the red flags start… I pull up & outside of the place looks disgusting and no one was there, which is unusual from when I lived in town. 🚩There were always multiple people waiting to pick up orders and dining in, the lady knew what order I was picking up bc I was the ONLY order! 🚩 my total was $31.50 🚩 she tells me she gave me 4 egg rolls instead of 2, I was thinking that’ll be great for leftovers. 🚩Open my order to dig in and 😩 it looks weird, s/s sauce looked and tasted like sweet ketchup, the chicken was hard and stringy and in no way tasted fresh, the beef and veg tasted and looked and tasted like a mixture of a couple of dishes, the rice was crunchy (not done) and tasted nasty and the “egg rolls” were tiny, greasy and barely had any filling. All VERY disappointing. I will take my $30+ to McDonald’s...
Read moreGolden China is my favorite kind of restaurant in that it is solidly secure in its identity, utterly unpretentious, and unerringly consistent. If you are a first timer, I recommend the lunch buffet, which has featured the exact same, well-balanced dishes for the entire eight years we have lived here. Stars for me include the hot and sour soup (honestly the best I've had anywhere, something I immediately crave anytime I am sick), veggie-filled garlic chicken, lo mein, egg rolls, slightly spicy general General Tso's, and the famous melt-in-your-mouth glazed doughnuts. Many of the meat dishes are veggie-heavy, which is thrilling to me: thick slices of green peppers and cabbage and fresh zucchini and broccoli all day. (Note: the lunch buffet has raised prices since we first came, but honestly they were too low before! The quality of the food is well worth the 11 dollars and change for the buffet.) To top it off, the owners of the family-run establishment are kind and welcoming. My (picky eater) daughter says if she were to pick a number between one to ten to rate this place, she'd say "ONE MILLION!" High praise indeed,...
