My wife and I decided to eat here for the first time today and it seems we may had arrived at one of the busiest times of the night. After a short 15 minute wait we were seated, staff was courteous and attentive even during the rush.
My wife ordered the ribeye and I ordered the prime rib; we also ordered an appetizer combo plate to sample some of their appetizers. Service was fast, our soups and appetizers came to us in about seven minutes and our main course within twenty.
They were not shy with the portion sizes as our appetizers consisted of three mozzarella sticks, two chicken tenders, two steak rolls and three jalapeno poppers served on a literal bed of onions. The mozzarella sticks were not the typical presentation of a mozzarella stick but did not disappoint, if you could imagine melted mozzarella and sweet basil enclosed in a spring roll wrap. The chicken tenders were hand breaded and perfectly moist. The steak rolls were different but delicious; bits of prime rib, portabella, and mozzarella enclosed in a spring roll wrap. The jalapeno poppers had a bit of a problem staying together but I gave it a pass as I could tell they were hand breaded and tasted fresh. There were a lot of onions and they were equally as flavorful as the rest.
For the main courses I would say the ribeye was on the thin side, perhaps due to ordering the twelve ounce but was decent nonetheless. The mashed potatoes were rustic and delicious made with baby reds, skin included. The cheesy seafood soup was everything it's name implied. Now for the prime rib; few steakhouses I have visited even offered it and even fewer had made it flavorful, I can honestly say that this is the best prime rib I had eaten at a steakhouse. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will be...
Read moreSebastian's is a welcoming and inviting atmosphere, it feels grand when you walk in, and it's also nice because I believe it's one of the few restaurants left that has a timeless feel. We had a great waitress who was very nice, and understood our requests. The only thing I wasn't overly impressed with was the main entrée, and the alcoholic beverages. The soup and salad were great, no issues there. For the drinks, we had ordered short old fashioneds - they seemed to have too much of a cinnamon flavor, almost like it was Fireball whiskey instead of brandy, like we had requested, so we only had one. We are willing to look past it, no biggie: we chalked it up to an inexperienced bartender. When our entrée arrived, it looked delicious, it actually was cooked very well, as requested. We both had the ribeye, medium rare, with the "garlic portabella" mushrooms, and the garlic mashed potatoes. Upon eating it, I was stunned at the lack of flavor. The steak itself had no seasoning, and the mushrooms were not flavorful either, I didn't get a hint of garlic. Unfortunately, same can be said for the garlic mashed potatoes...they also had no taste of garlic. They were the right texture and buttered well, but still lacking the flavor within its name on the menu. Overall it was an okay experience. The server was very nice and on top of her duties, but it's not likely we'll return soon as we were disappointed with the lack of flavor in our entrées, and the overall cost for bland food. Personally, I feel like I make better steak and...
Read moreVisited 4/23/2022 around 430pm. The steakhouse itself was inviting. Big bar, plenty of room to sit and wait for a table. No signature drinks. Old fashioned was average. Spend the time and mix it and create a signature drink. We were sat fairly quickly. We started out our order with their famous steak rolls. It came out and looked bland. They were wonton wrapped. Super greasy and was a complete mess. She ordered 8oz filet medium rare, ranch reds, house salad, and French onion. I ordered 8oz filet medium rare, wedges, caesar salad, and French onion. Salads and soup came out first. The ranch was top 3 we've had at any restaurant. Caesar was average at best. French onion was the worst French onion soup we've had at 93 supper clubs and steakhouses in southern Wisconsin. Tasted like the dishwater at the end of the night. Steaks came out. Possibly not filets. If they were filets they are bargain schnucks filets on clearance. Mine was hot gray center no red at all and hers was medium rare but fatty and tough. Over seasoned and super chewy. Wasn't the worst we had but was bottom 3.
Steak rolls - 4.3/10 Caesar salad - 5.9/10 House salad - 6.5/10 French onion - 2.3/10 Ranch reds 6.7/10 Wedges - 4.9/10 Filets - 4.9/10
The scores we gave were generous and we hope you...
